Yes,Sorry loosely, obvious you disagree do its complete bollox.

Unfortunately for you and union boy, it's true.

The left and their union pals are the biggest hypocrites in uk politics.

Whenever we felt the necessity to take strike action people that made comments like yours enhanced our resolve,  and made our struggles all the more bearable.

I've actually quite enjoyed reading through this thread.  There are truths and inaccuracies on both sides of this argument.

Yes - I am retired, and as such, I am a LIFE member of UNISON.

I have seen both good and bad sides of the argument of unions.  Anybody involved will have met the left wing 'I'm alright Jack, - Do as I say !!" union reps, shop stewards, Fathers/Mothers of Chapel, (print unions).  Thankfully, they are disappearing fast as no-one WANTS to continually going out on strike.  Indeed, members can't afford it !

On the other side of the coin, anybody involved will have seen the good unions do for their members against overbearing employers, trying to impose draconian working conditions/wages.  (I do speak from direct experience here).

(I will now 'don' my tin hat, and retreat to the shelter !)

I always find it funny that whenever a strike is called, only a handful of people turn up on the picket line, usually paid thugs who cause trouble for a past time.while the majority strike by spending the dating the local pub it at the local beach/park

Picket lines are now strongly controlled by law. (Maggie's doing, needless to say).

Most picket lines are good humoured affairs and a police presence is rarely needed, and we was always heartened at the support we got from the passing public. The only exception that I can remember was when a group of non unionised owner drivers blockaded the Shell-Haven depot and we needed a police escort, even though we had documentation stating we was delivering to an essential service.
