The Mayor Of Simpleton
Note, I am not talking ground safety here. Having seen the FITB video (great job by the way!) on Oxford City, it has made me wonder how much work Non League clubs undertake when interviewing potential would-be saviors/investors. Looking at Oxford City's newest board member, it seems difficult to understand how this investor has not been flagged up as a potential problem for them. Reading the posts on the Oxford City forum, it looks as if problems are already manifesting themselves and many fans are not happy with the actions of Mr. Thomas Guerriro. So with the dust settling on the 2012-13 season, how much time and effort do clubs take when vetting a potential Mr. or Mrs. Moneybags? Is it a case of 'if they've got the dosh, they're welcome' or do clubs probe deeper to find out about their would be investors? Recalling the infamous Notts. County/MUNTO scam of 2009, how can you be sure that your club would not suffer the same fate that Notts. did (remember when they signed Sol Campbell and got Sven Goran Eriksson in - briefly - as manager? If not.maybe this will jog your memory ). Over to you.
Eastside Urchin
No one vets clubs, when an owner has enough of the club and rising costs they usually sell to the highest bidder regardless, only a few do what's right for the clubs future. The football authorities don't care, they just let the problem get worse every year,it's a joke. Football fans actually get a hard time for falling for these dodgy owners but there's not too much your average fan can do,they don't have access to Clubs accounts etc
