Won't Biggleswade Town be fielding a Reserve side against AFC Dunstable on Wednesday following their game at Rugby Town tomorrow, win or lose

No

How do you know that Biggleswade won't field a second string on Wednesday, at least it would even the game up a bit

Yes Rhodes, hadn't thought of that, in fact I have just been in touch with them and they have confirmed as it is only being played on tin pot Luton Towns pitch and it is deemed as the most Senior and prestigious Cup competition in the county then they will be fielding their U15 girls team, which is a shame as if they had fielded their severely mentally retarded friends of Jimmy Saville team then you may have got a call up.

On a serious side, Biggleswade have just got themselves promoted to the EVO-STIK Premier, and will be treating this as a night for celebration and reward for the first team with their supporters wanting to come along and celebrate the day. Yes they are a very good side, yes we are major underdogs, but it is a great night for AFC also, and reward for a difficult season, but we will be playing to win and show a good account of ourselves.

Thanks Dog, Savagebee for your comment, it is much appreciated.

164. Wednesday 8 May 2013 – Bedfordshire Senior Cup (Final) – Attendance: 325-350 approx
AFC Dunstable (blue/blue/white) 0 – 3 Biggleswade Town (green & white stripes/green/green)
Scorers: Biggleswade Town (Mason 17, Donnelly 42, Barnes 67)
Pitch: poor, lots of grass, divots not filled in – Weather: the day improved, clouded over, then rained, 13 deg C at finish

This was one-way traffic for most of the game. AFC Dunstable should have scored the opener in the first minute then, were hardly seen again. Paul Barnes came on as a substitute mid-way through the second-half and scored for the ‘waders almost immediately. AFC Dunstable’s day was compounded with a late dismissal, down to ten-men for some over-enthusiastic use of an elbow, caught a defender broadside.

Star Man: Paul Barnes (Biggleswade Town) –

I am sure anyone who would have attended would not have used the term "One way traffic", but 3 nil is a good win. The report from an AFC perspective is as follows;

Obviously AFC were beaten 3 nil last night against a very well organised Biggleswade side, who have just gained promotion to the EVO-STIK Premier. The score line does not tell the full picture, with AFC competing throughout, and were it not for a couple of outstanding goal-line clearances, the outcome could well have been different.

AFC started the stronger, and after only 2 minutes a flowing movement involving Craig Butler and Dale Turney ended with Hayden Will's setting up Stefan Tracey, who volleyed the ball towards the top corner, but somehow a defender got a head to it to divert it over the bar. AFC were controlling the midfield, but it was evident that Biggleswade had a major threat up top in Brett Donnelly who's hold and set play was outstanding. In fact after 20 minutes Connelly set up Masson to fire in from close range. AFC never gave up, and Hayden Wills rounded the keeper but found the angle just to tight to get a shot on goal, and after 40 minutes Biggleswade went 2 up from a good delivery for a far post Donnelly header.

AFC brought on Graham Clark and Jay Blackett for the second half, both making an immediate impact, with Clark setting up a Jay Blackett header which a defender somehow made a last ditch clearance off the line. Again though Donnelly was causing problems, and another set by him allowed Barnes to put the game to bed.

Overall AFC matched Biggleswade in every way, with the exception of set pieces, and player to player link up, which comes from the extra work on the training ground at EVO STIK level. Our players should be proud of reaching the final and of the level in which they performed, and with a couple of additions for next season they will have every chance of a top 4 SSML spot.

AFC TEAM: Sam Leggitt, Courtny Massey, Dan Ryan, Jim Baldry, Richard Harker, Steve Hawes (Graham Clark), Garth Harnamann, Craig Butler, Dale Turney, Hayden Wills (Ryan Smith), Stefan Tracey (Jay Blackett)

So if free kicks, corners and passing were not part of the game you might have won! ;)

Obviously you have great coaching credentials, but link up play includes great player understanding and alertness, which is different to general passing game.

Also the report gives BTFC credit for there play, I could have said our goalkeeper didnt have a save to make, but we lost easily 3 NIL, so unlike the other report which said "one way traffic", mine was a balanced report.

Thanks for your imput, very knowledgable for someone who wasnt at the game

:)

Cheers SavageBee, yes always going to be difficult, they havnt gained promotion for nothing, they are a very good side.

Munch ,munch.............so predictable.....

Well I agree with Smellynuts, how can you say if free kicks, corners and passing were not part of the game AFC Dunstable might have won if you weren't even at Kenilworth Road
