The Lions Squad Is Announced

Recommended Posts

Lions 35-0 Melbourne Rebels

A far more convincing performance from the Lions this time, and Sean O'Brien has surely nailed a starting berth for the 2nd test.

Untidy at times, yes, but the defence held strong and all bodes well for Saturday and the 2nd test

For the 2nd test, I think the 1st XV squad will be:

15. Leigh Halfpenny

14. Alex Cuthbert

13. Jonathan Davies

12. Manusamoa Tuilagi

11. George North

10. Jonathan Sexton

9. Conor Murray

1. Mako Vunipola

2. Richard Hibbard

3. Dan Cole

4. Geoff Parling

5. Alun Wyn Jones

6. Tom Croft

7. Dan Lydiate

8. Jamie Heaslip

Lions 15-16 Australia

Oh dear.

Still, not the end of the world, but the last game is going to be crucial for both sides.

I was a bit concerned that at half-time the gap was only three points.  Australia really upped their game in the second half and deserve their win.   Poor Leigh Halfpenny though - he had the chance to win it but his kick at the death was short.

A great game though, so roll on the final game next weekend!

Lions 41-16 Australia

LIONS WIN THE SERIES 2-1

The best performance of the tour - an absolute demolition job on the Aussies!

You could sense from the off that the Lions were up for it, as they raced ahead amassing 19 points in as many minutes!  Leigh Halfpenny deserves a knighthood, in my opinion, my man of the tour and deadly accurate with the boot.

Four penalties in the first half and a great early try by Corbisiero gave the Lions a great start, but slowly the Aussies came back into the game and reduced the margin.  However, the Lions dug deep and Sexton, North and Roberts all crossed over for tries putting the game well out of reach.

So thus concludes the 2013 Lions tour - a 2-1 win (our first series win since 1997) and a job very well done.
