A pretty comfortable win in the end, 3-0 with two goals from Smith, a cracking one from Burgess in between.

Don't think Jacko had a save to make all game. We controlled the game, defended well and took the chances we had. Well done to the team.

We must now look forward to next season, stop all this moaning about this season and pull together as one to go again. Whether Steve Bateman is our manager remains to be seen but I'd like to thank the management team and the players for their efforts this season.

Next season! COYR!

We should not moan about this season! - the worst performance by a Slough team under Batemans control, did not even make the playoffs.

If you read the Observer article he blames players individual performances for not getting into the playoffs, he also trotts out how wonderful it was to draw twice against Mansfield (Warsall were high up the pyramid and we beat them) so his FA Cup comments maybe overstated.

I would like to thank Steve Bateman for his time at the club, where his only achievment is we are still in the same league as when he joined, and thank him for his last game in charge.

Sorry Clive but, IMHO, that's an unnecessarily harsh post. I am as disappointed as everyone else that we've missed out on the play offs. Just to put that in perspective, if we hadn't conceded the last minute goal at northwood we would be in them and we may have won them. Then who would have been moaning about Steve Bateman? One goal therefore makes the difference between a good or bad manager - I don't think so!!! The negativity over the last few weeks from the vast majority on here (and some people for much longer than that) is demoralising for everyone, including some supporters, believe me. For me, Steve should stay and then the situation should be assessed at Christmas. A change of manager then, if necessary, would be more beneficial than getting a new manager in now and losing the first half of next season to rebuilding. But, for now, I thank the players and management for a season which has ultimately ended disappointingly but has included some wonderful moments. I spoke earlier in the season of some players lacking the passion required but everyone has put in the effort over the last week and almost salvaged something that should have already gone. Also thanks to the volunteers who keep our club alive - I do hope the crap that some people spout on here doesn't drive the people that love the club away. I would much rather have a team that finishes 6th than no club at all!!! Now I will get told I'm deluded but I know I'm not, i'm a supporter which, although it may not always feel like it, is a different thing!!!

Taken the season on it's own and I'd agree with you entirely Radders.

The only thing I want to say is that this is the 4th time he's tried, and the 4th time he's failed. (sorry if that sounds negative! :) ) For me, that's the bottom line.

Have to agree... What makes this season the final straw for me is that Burnham have won the league and gained promotion, and SYCOB could yet still gain promotion. Leaves far too much of a bitter taste, regardless of what anyone says, this season we have gone backwards by not even making the play offs...

It's time for a change, and I agree with 3spirit, I'd like to see Keith Scott given a crack at getting us out of this league!

CR,

Keith Scott is the favourite to take over at Hayes and Yeading.

Fair enough! Look, I'm not advocating that Steve Bateman should be sacked, I just think we need to go in another direction though, however Steve is still in charge next season then it wouldn't bother me, at least it will be interesting again. I'm just not sure he will be able to break this cycle now!

According to Hitchin website, their manager Carl Williams has resigned. Most fans are shocked & surprised.Talk of John Frendo possibly going with him.Resigned to further his career. Mmm. I wonder?

Codpiece, your way off the mark.

That was Carl Williams's first managerial role and a couple of weeks ago when they were in danger of relegation some Hitchin fans were saying that he didn't have a clue and were calling for his head.

Shows he's a good manager because he gets linked to posts at higher levels ie Wycombe,Chesham and now,Hayes. He would be ideal for Slough but we appear to be satisfied to stay in this league and never challenge properly for the title.

Slough are becoming a laughing stock,in regards to the division we play in and now even teams like AFC Hayes,North Greenford and Chalfont St Peter are basically on par with us.That's not progress. That's acceptance of the fact and now this sleeping giant of non-league football is shrinking and in my opinion going backwards.

Who will Steve Bateman get linked to when he eventually leaves Slough? Will he be linked to jobs higher up?

I can't see it,can you?

Wake up people! we are playing at our lowest level for years and some of the fans are now actually grateful for the fact.

I think we are sadly deluding ourselves about how far we have fallen and what matters.

Yes,we have an excellent, well run club but sometimes you have to have foresight and strength of character to bring success. Burnham took a chance by appointing Martin Stone from a lower level of football and look what they've achieved.

Keith Scott is available. Before long he won't be. I expect us to miss out because we're settling for the easier option and not willing to take a risk or two to get the right man in,to get us promotion.

Steve Bateman and Steve Easterbrook appear to be nice guys. Perhaps they're both too nice to succeed.Neither seem to be ruthless enough to address the teams failing's.

I TRULY hope Steve Bateman,if he stays, proves me wrong and leads us to promotion but I'm not going to hold my breath !
