Whitehawk changing their name...

Recommended Posts

I actually think its a good move.

The people of Brighton may just take to it,not in a big way but they are now 2 leagues off the football league, pretty much sell the Amex out for most games, can see them gaining a few hundred fans in the next couple of years, especially if Brighton get into the premier leave soon and start selling out every game

Most people outside of Brighton will not have heard of Whitehawk (Been there many times myself) many clubs do this to help them seams a good idea to me.

I remember Leyton Pennant changing to Waltham Forest it did'nt help much. Whitehawk will have to do a lot of community work and publicity, as well as a marquee signing or two to get attention and attract the footfall IMO and that's if the owner does'nt go skint or gets bored with the mercenaries which will be sucking away at his wallet and then walks away aka Gretna.

My sister lives in Brighton, been down there today, asked her and her hubby if they had heard of Whitehawk, they both said no.Asked them if they had heard of Brighton City FC,they both said they had heard they are a new footy team in Brighton going into the conference.Looks like it may not be that silly to rename it

As an ETFC founder/supporter now exiled in Brighton could I add that the Whitehawk estate carries a rather unsavoury reputation within Brighton. I therefore think that it will only be good for the club to be rid of that association.
