Just to put you in the picture. When they drew with Tring the ref blew the whistle to early. What he should have done is talked to the managers before the game and discussed what the length of the game should be. Regarding the risboro game they have had deducted the points they gained. And as for the Pitstone game they couldn't field a team not Aston Clinton. Hope that clears things up for you .

So pussy footing around don't really think so.

Sad end of the season at Welwyn Garden City FC.

After a decent set of results after Christmas it seems to have fallen apart again.

Sad also that the continuity into next season has been broken, again.

Still, ever onwards...l

So how do we all know if Aston haven't played ringers for other games this season?? Surely should be punished abit more than 1 point!!! So ok you say they get deducted the 1 point, they beat broxbourne today if they had a ringer playing today they would lose 3 points but stops broxbourne gaining points think there oppo should have been awarded all 3 as broxbourne could of turned up with the arsenal team today smashed Aston and then broxbourne lose 3 points and still be above aston surely this could play to teams advantages by this dodgy ruling as it could tempt teams to play ringers in vital games as if they get caught would only lose 3 points and the oppo get nothing but if they don't get caught they gain a massive advantage, might as well just not have players signed on and play whoever ya want

Didn't deserve to win today. Started brightly, Dunstable were better than us, simple fact. Their midfield battle and snap away and they aren't afraid to pass the ball out. Very good team. Interesting to see B.Christie playing for them again, coming off the bench

There was nothing hidden it was a mistake and the club have had a point deducted, the player was put on the team sheet presuming the paperwork had gone through and it hadn't. Any team can play ringers and its happened many time in far higher leagues then Div 2 but please don't go slagging clubs off if you don't have the facts.

Are Aylesbury United promoted?

Well, they've done their bit by finishing second, but by losing today their PPG average is lower than it could have been. No doubt it will be some time before the FA decide:

a. How many they are going to promote

and

b. Who those teams are.

But, all things being equal, I think they have a better than average chance. Good luck to them.

Not slagging anyone off sounds like more stupidity by the club than anything, if his not signed then his a ringer and not eligible so mistake or no mistake why should the opposition be punished for other teams mishaps

Mistakes are made at all levels and I guess that's how the league looks at it. However if you can't field a team surely the opposition should get 3 points.

The perils of lower league local football. Good to see one of their players made the jump up several steps to Havant.

Your comment by the way is a disservice to those people who volunteer their time to keep local football going in WGC.

Well when the Club somehow managed to secure the services of Steve Newing and Del Deanus they even managed to shoot themselves in the foot didn't they

A Groundhoppers View

ELMFIELDS GATE

WINSLOW UNITED 0 Cockfosters 0

SSMLD1

£3/£1

£1 Mug of tea x2

A most pleasant afternoon in the Chiltern hills, with a lovely bus ride from Aylesbury on the number 60 which stops just a couple of minute’s walk from the ground and is conveniently timed for the return at 1706.

The clubhouse was very welcoming although the bar was not open before kick-off but a mug of tea sufficed.

The only cover here is an arena stand but the setting makes up for it, providing you get a sunny day that is. Luckily we missed the heavy showers the away side required just a point to secure second place and promotion with London Lions, and this they achieved though not without some shaky moments particularly in the second half when Winslow played very well. Their manager is certainly a character and provided added entertainment value

Perhaps.

But that was yesterday.

Today there are some hardworking and committed volunteers ensuring that local football is available.

Not easy in a town that is full of London Premier League club supporters.

Nice afternoon yesterday, despite the loss.

Good to see a busy clubhouse before and particularly after the game.

Funding is an issue, as always.

But an opportunity I think to develop an offer given the paucity of decent pubs in WGC, especially those showing sporting events.

Emm....

GCF - ignore Mr Rhodes, WGC are just one of a number of SSML clubs that he just loves spouting his bile at.

Glad to read it was a great day (despite the result) yesterday. The summer is set for many changes and I look forward to continuing my work for my home town club along with my new role with the SSML for many years to come.
