BREAKING NEWS: @BBCSurrey believe @FarnboroughFC will enter administration by the end of today with total debts of around £2m #Farnborough

Will this affect our final?

Probably not. Unless the administrator decides liquidation is the only option but that won't happen before the final's due to be played.

I think the timing of this means Farnborough will start next season with a ten point deduction.

**edit**

The rules are a bit complicated but, on second reading, I think the points will be deducted immediately. I assume Farnborough have done this voluntarily and waited until now as, even with a ten point deduction, they'd avoid relegation.

all about timing VPCTFC.

Make sure a 10pt deduction doesnt get you relegated, and then go into administration!!

you have to go careful with the Conference as they are much harder on this sort of thing than the FA. I would also imagine any 10 point will be held over to next season if indeed it does happen.

The Conference has the same rules as everyone else in non-league down to step 6 - they're handed down by the FA.

Well in that case the 10 points will be next Season.

No they won't.

It's hard reading but here we go (edited to take out the chaff) -

"14.A.2 Where a Club takes or suffers an Insolvency Event:

14.A.2.1 during the Normal Playing Season but prior to 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday in March, the point’s deduction shall apply immediately;

14.A.2.2 during the Normal Playing Season but after 5:00 p.m. on the fourth Thursday In March then Rule 14.A.3 shall apply;

14.A.2.3 outside the Normal Playing Season, the point’s deduction shall apply in respect of the following Season such that the Club starts that Season on minus 10 points.

14.A.3 Where the circumstances set out in Rule 14.A.2.2 apply and at the end of that Playing Season, having regard to the number of Competition points awarded (ignoring any potential deduction):

a. the Club would be relegated in accordance with The Football Conference Rules & Regulations, the points deduction will apply in the next following Season;

or b. the Club would not be relegated as aforesaid, the points deduction will apply in that Playing Season

http://www.footballc...co.uk/rules.php

I presume it's worded like that as a ten point deduction for a side already relegated won't affect them. Farnborough have done it the clever way and waited until they're more than ten points clear of relegation before doing it.

Haha, knew Kroons & VP would have posted on this thread! I think if you are not already a Conference club they don't want to let you in, but if you are already there they can only apply the rules that are in place. Scandalous that the 'new' Farnborough club finds itself in this situation, after the circumstances of the demise of the previous one. And no I don't feel sorry for the fans at all. Wonder what the next incarnation will be called?

Rumour is that a new owner is just waiting for Admin to buy. got to love the rumours :) Be interesting to know if they owe either HMRC or Council who both took a hit last time.

Alderborough Town or Farndershot FC. ;) The 2 Clubs between them might just survive in the Conference

I assume the alleged £2 million debt includes the reported £900k Spencer put in?

I'm not anti-Farnborough FC any more TRS. Too old for all that bitterness and hatred. I think it's an enjoyable place to go and watch football these days, decent chips and a decent bar. The band I work with even chose the football club as a venue for a charity gig recently. Good night out.

I would assume so VP.

The big annoyance for me is the money wasted by the Football Foundation there. given to the old set up, allowed to be used for the new set up and the projet still isnt finished. Our youth set up cant even get a couple of grand to improve the facilities where our small sided clubs play. Wrong really.

Exactly and part of the shiny new stadium would account for some of the debt i assume? Stadium is very nice now, but the work was totally unnecessary for a club that struggles to pull in 400 spectators and at best should be aspiring to be a Conference National side. Why not just try and live within your means to a realistic level, based on supporter numbers etc?

Edit - actually thinking about it, I reckon Conference South realistically is their top level.

Pure speculation but I would imagine that, old football debts, HMRC and Council will be the people. If indeed the Council get burnt again I wonder what their stance will be. Especially now we are deeper in this financial mess. Goals Centre or new houses anyone ? all pure speculation though.

And I know it's easy with hindsight, but it looked obvious that they were building way above their station even back then. We went there a few years back with Badshot Lea of course and of all clubs with a recent history of financial issues, they should have been most careful. Then again, maybe they shouldn't have been allowed planning permission in the first place until they could satisfy some sort of financial criteria requirement.
