Points Tally & Season Appraisal

And that's not a personal attack at you Nathan. It just seems people assume on here and as you say nobody knows ours or anyone else's.

We therefore just need buckle down and all stop talking nonsense

I can't disagree with any of that, but I am reading between the lines regarding our budget. Some people appear to be saying "I don't know what our budget is, so I'm gong to assume that it's peanuts", and therefore proceed to use it as an excuse for another season of failure. That may not intend this, but it is sometimes how it appears!

Now I think this row has dragged on for long enough. No club decisions will be made purely on the basis of your, mine or anyone else's arguments on here, and I think that we're repeating ourselves.

In his very first post Nathan says that 80 points would be enough for the playoffs in most of the other leagues around and above us. That means that this league is harder because 83 points meant we didn't make the playoffs. How do you moaners not see that...

Utterly disagree for points made earlier and at length before. This league is weaker than it was when we made the play offs. Just because more points were needed to make a certain position does not qualify the league as harder. Burnham are a decent side... Would they have beaten at Neots in the league last year? No. Hitchin before them? No. Etc etc. Not being a moaner but the quality of opposition this season was not as high as previously.

I think those people who are convincing themselves that the poor weather , fixture backlog ,good FA cup run  etc are the main reasons for another failed season need to be reminded that we started the season in failure mode  ill prepared and unmotivated   We missed the playoffs by one point  but in the first 4 games  we lost 8 points including  2 losses against teams that finished nowhere   the likelihood of failure was there in the first few weeks.

Likelihood of failure or success is usually the bookies method of setting odds, however the following shows how far out they were:

Slough Town 5/1F - finished 6th
Guildford City 7/1
Uxbridge 9/1
Beaconsfield Sycob 11/1 finished 5th
Chalfont St Peter 11/1
Daventry Town 11/1
Rugby Town 12/1 finished 2nd
Chertsey Town 14/1
Godalming Town 14/1 finished 3rd
Biggleswade Town 16/1 finished 4th
NORTHWOOD 16/1
Thatcham Town 16/1
Burnham 20/1 finished top
Leighton Town 20/1
Woodford United 20/1
Ashford Town 25/1
Barton Rovers 25/1
Royston Town 25/1
AFC Hayes 33/1
Aylesbury 40/1
Fleet Town 50/1
North Greenford 50/1
