Exactly, you can't just look at the 'poor' teams at the bottom, the teams at the top got fewer points, and were taking more points off each other. There was also no runaway winners or massive points gaps at the top end like there has been in previous seasons. This shows the league was much more difficult this year.

It does not matter if the bottom teams are poorer or the top teams are stronger - we finished out of the playoffs and that is worse than last year and not acceptable! - Bateman has to go.

As I said, I think maybe it's time to take a step backwards in order to take 2 steps forward.

 

Take the example of Dave Jones/Malkay Mackay at Cardiff City. Under Dave Jones, they reached 2 play-offs and an FA Cup final - but he also didn't have what it takes to take them to the next level. Look at what has happened under Mackay.

Mark The top teams last year scored fewer points because there were more good teams to take points from them This has been a weaker league this year imo and makes our failure to make the playoffs even less acceptable

They look on this forum and read how Slough Supporters see there club IE Sh--- ground, crap tea bar or what ever. They pass this onto there players supporters ect and boooooom they up there game to beat us, just to say YOUR NOT AS GOOD AS YOU THINK YOU ARE so up yours.

As a member of the management committee have you got your head stuck in the sand or are you looking at moving the club forward? Because if you are willing to stick with Bateman, then we are looking at further stagnation and even slipping further down the leauge - this season under Bateman we have the shame of coming in behind the big spending Burnham & Beaconsfield - next season will Bateman let the Mighty Chalfont St Peter or Uxbridge get above us?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - we do not treat Bateman by the same standard by which we treated Derek Sweetman. He was got rid of after just under a year, with very little thought of "stability". This happened because we thought we should be doing better. Yet I see now that we ought to give Bateman chance after chance after chance???

 

I would like to ask everyone on here what their reaction would have been, when Bateman took over, if I'd told them that come 4 years time, we would still be in this league?

You're forgetting the dreadful mess the club was in when Sweetman took over - the 2008/09 was always going to be a season of rebuilding and consolidation!

As I recall Clive, they finished 3rd the following year, whereas we only managed to scrap into 5th by a goal difference of 1!

 

I don't know just how rich Burnham are supposed to be, but if they can build a title-winning side with resources, there is only one reason why we cannot.

From the day Steve Easterbrook took over he said that exactly that would not happen and we would live within our means. Our club is run as a business to prevent money troubles in the future, so if Steve Easterbrook has assigned a budget, Steve Bateman must be doing his best with what he has got to work with. I would much rather than that we throw money at the team, get promoted, then go out of business.

I know that the buck ultimately stops with the manager but we seem to be forgetting that some share of the blame for failure must lie with the players.As people have said that we seem to have quality players and players of a certain calibre how many of these will stick around for another season !

Look, no one knows what the budget is but one thing is certain, players like Adam Martin, NBH, Dave Deeney, Dave Woozley, Warro, O'Toole, Anthony, Jake Parsons et al don't come cheap.

 

Maybe Biggles, Burnham and Rugby have a bigger budget than us but we certainly have one of the best budgets in this division.

Sorry can coment on Francis Vines apart from as far as I know he's at Didcot and they finished 7th from bottom of South & West. GOOD NAMES
