Guildford v Biggleswade

Whatever happens next season, we need to just sacrifice the FA Cup in case we are put in the same scenario... Or sacrifice the league and just attempt to make the FA Cup 1st Round if that's what the club want... Yes the revenue is a bonus but it does not form part of the budget at the start of the season as no one knows how far a team can get!

To see Burnham as Champions and I wouldn't be surprised to see SYCOB win the play offs, will be a massive kick in the teeth... The weather cannot be used as an excuse, other teams were in the same boat, and yes the FA Cup run was great but I am now questioning why this was prioritised, poor decision if promotion was the number one target...

Ok, some will disagree and say they have enjoyed the season as a whole, yes it's been interesting but the thought of another season in this pub league makes my stomach turn!!!

That's me for the season, looking forward to the debate recommending in August already!

I will remember those two games against Mansfield for a long long time.

I will be there on Saturday to thank the players and management for that cup run.

As for how we move forward. I leave that in the hands of our management team and trust that the two steves know what is best for the club.

Come on you rebels!!!!

The FA cup was not prioritised.

Every club wants to win every game. We just happened to get as far as the first round, no one could have foreseen the extent of the bad weather that we had.

Have to agree with the above. Good season, unlucky once the bad weather set in. We've been punished for being successful in the F.A cup. Yes the main target of promotion wasn't achieved, but not through lack of effort. For me, Bateman to stay next season. Also have to say that the fixtures for next season need looking at. More evening fixtures in August, September, October to allow things like cup runs & winter postponements to even out over the season. Well played Slough, lets finish on a high on Saturday , then go again in August.

Worst finishing position in the 4 seasons Bateman has been in charge - we are now going backwards rather than forwards.

The FA & League cups are a bonus but not a true measure of achievement - even the extra cash from these has failed to gain a playoff place.

The Bateman era has stagnated and is now starting to stink.

Time for Steve Easterbrook to look for a new manager to revitalise the on pitch activities, to compliment and drive forward the new ground implementation.

Cookham before SYCOB can win the playoffs they first have to get in them not at all certain at the moment Royston have a better goal difference so SYCOBs last game is a must win game although I do believe that Royston will regret the loss of 3 points when they refused to obey the referees orders when a player was injured At the end of last season Bateman asked for one more chance to achieve promotion and has failed again He should resign or be removed He has proved again that he cant produce a consistent team good wins one week followed by capitulation to village pond sides the next week I also think that we should have got out early from the pointless league cup as a number of intelligent managers did we would have got more league games played and less games overall

FA cup was really great and enjoyed every round but i think honestly if it was between that and promotion i would take promotion

regardless of the FA cup run for this squad to not even make the playoffs and for it to not even be possible with a game left is a mighty failure

time and again we lost or drew games that at one point were totally on top and time and again it continued to happen. something has been lacking in terms of getting matches won when we have the opportunity. Chalfont Uxbridge twice Barton away Northwood away Guildford away Daventry away just off top of my head were all games we were on top of at some point and ended up not winning

SYCOB only need to draw their last game to be in the play-offs.

Why are so many people trying to blame the cup run for this seasons failure Our cup run was over in the second week of November 24 weeks ago! Almost half a year ago!! We have shown we can beat teams at the top of our league (although most beat us also) but failure to motivate the team against poor opposition has cost us again imo

Because after the cup run we were behind on games then the bad weather came along which added to the game pile up,

But at the time I didn't hear anyone complaining about it everyone was enjoying the run and then complain after, anyone can state the obvious after the fact.

But saying that I still wouldn't give up the cup run, but I would the weather

Nobody is saying that the FA Cup wasn't magical, or won't be remembered. The day out in Margate, that night in Gosport and the replay against Mansfield will all live long in my memory!

It's just that the FA Cup wasn't the objective of the season, whereas getting promoted was. The FA Cup was, always has been, and always will be, a bonus. This season, we got the bonus, but NOT the objective. And now we have failed to get the objective for a FOURTH successive season. Not good enough!

I see what you guys are saying, but I'd have to disagree slightly.

Still to this day, 20 odd years on, I remember fondly Bromley away when we had to go their to win the league to get promoted to the Conference.

Promotion is promotion and for me is remembered (just as much) as our FA Cup days out against Reading, Plymouth, Torquay, Swansea (a), Colchester (a), Cardif, Birmingham away (although it should have been played at home) and Walsall (I was a just a bit too young for Millwall and Orient games).

We just need to get a promotion in the record books so we can add to our clubs history.

I think people will remember promotions just as much as FA Cup games.

Not sure if a side note, but one of my best days following Slough was our 10-0 away win at Stroud, anyone else there that day?

Its noticable how many of the usual suspects now claiming that the FA cup run was the highlight of the season are the same people who until very recently were saying that the championship was still on and that the playoffs were a certainty ! The weather affected all teams and I dont believe fatigue contributed much to our failure Did the team at Rugby or Godalming look fatigued? No once again complacency and lack of consistency and motivation have cost us

I wasn't saying our season was a success, I actually think it was a bit of a failure not making the play offs

At the end of the day the only person whos opinion on whether it was a success or failure is Mr Easterbrooks and the board as they will have the final say on whether there will be a new management team in charge next season.
