Brightside Bloke
Same old trick of loosing in the last minutes of the game. for that i'm fuming But honestly thought we deserved at the very least a point and maybe all 3 points I'm sure being stuck on a coach for 7 hr's will have played it's part in yesterdays outcome but it's what happens on the pitch that decides our fate. Don't think there is a player that i could choose that did not give everything yesterday. Just one more job now lad's FINISH ABOVE THE URCHINS Still very proud to be a Billericay Town supporter COYB Pictures from yesterday are on FaceBook https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151315220176106.1073741831.565791105&type=
Rod
Blues were the better team for the first seventy minutes, Alfie May and Semakula going close in the first half. As the game went on though we got more and more tired, Weston made three substitutions and that gave them the extra energy to win the game late on. We still need to try to finish above AFC though, clubs do go under in the summer and we need to be in the best position should an opportunity arise (like Maidenhead last year). Gareth J
It's a shame, and we went down fighting.......but ultimately this game summed up our season - we tried really hard and ultimately were punished for our mistakes. I think the problem has been obvious - we weren't good enough. Last season we triumphed through team spirit for a lot of the season....I think most people would agree that we weren't the best team in the Ryman, but when the chips were down we dug in and got results. It wasn't always pretty, but we got there. We also made very few changes to the team throughout the season and those we made were definite improvements. I suspect the same can't be said of this season. Yes, many of team changes were unavoidable as Craig said in his pre-match interview, but I think many of us would also agree that the standard of some of those coming in has been disappointing. Many never played, some played for 10 minutes and then disappeared. But of those that stayed, some really weren't up to it (I'm not naming names, that would be unfair). There are some successes in there, don't get me wrong, but a lot are not. I think the squad we are finishing this season with would not have gained promotion from the Ryman (in my opinion), so I suspect it's difficult to have expected them to stay in the Blue Square. Hats off to them, they tried hard.....and it's been really great to get to go to some new places and see some new faces, but sadly now we need to regroup to start expecting the same old ones again. I really hope some of the squad are prepared to take the step back down. If we could keep a few, get a few existing ones fit and get rid of the "also rans" - and of course get some luck, we could be back. I appreciate we still have 2 games to play, and it would be good to end up the best of the worst....but our points vs Blue Square North isn't too good, and we'll be there until the end next Saturday, but for now I hope we can look forward to Great Wakering in the friendlies when it all starts again...........Here's to 2013/14. Ryman Premier champions? You heard it here first.
Dilbert
Bit disappointed there hasn't been much comment on the players performance on Saturday but with the late kick off I'm not sure some of them remember the game. The performance of the player in the last two games in my opinion has been excellent. We were unlucky in those games but the outcome was determined earlier in the season. On Saturday they ran their socks off and were gutted at the end, thanks lads the spirit was there. Two games to go lets go out with a bang. Rich.m
Pretty much the story of our season summed up in one game....Stop start. First the players being stuck, then the half chances and hard work rate but no reward, to finish with the sucker punch of a late goal again. For our first season at this level relegation has been hard to take because we are not far away from 6 or 7 teams in that league. The hardest job we know now is getting out that bloody Ryman league!!! It would be nice to finish the season on a high an show the support for the lads, the reaction after the game showed how much it hurt them as well this season. Nice to see a tweet about our away support on the day, well done everyone whether you made the trip or not, us supporters have a big part to play in making our club ready for the next time we venture into the conference south!
