New observer story

Mark, it's a story based on the comments of the recent stories of the school and stadium proposals. As WP is partly in South Bucks, one could argue that we have not played in slough since moving in there in 73? The paper are being clever with it as they know this is a hot topic at the moment and generates a lot of traffic for them so best for them to keep stoking the fire.

The Slough Observer piss me off because they haven't been very supportive of the club for years.

I know they are in the business of drumming up a story but you would think they would get behind the club, being that it's for the community of Slough, the area that their newspaper is supposed to represent !

To me,they're hypocrites. Good mind to stop buying the paper,if that's their attitude.

They have been supportive of the club and have supported and publicised the petition. However, their business is to sell papers and generate traffic/visits online. The school situation is also a local issue so also deserves publicity and is a hot area for them right now, particularly online, so it's in their interest to get as many stories as they can about it right now I'd say, almost regardless of quality of content as I think this current story shows having hashed together some of the comments online.

Personally, I'm choosing to ignore the press stories about this subject...

The first letter they have picked up on is not against our club at all...

The second letter is an opinion of someone who probably has no interest in football...

We have our opinion, let them have theirs... Martin had his story this week, now this story is published, it's just an attempt to stir things up...

What will be will be... Yes I'd love to see us playing back in Slough, but I'd rather I could carrying on watching the Rebels week in week out regardless of where they play, if it's Beaconsfield for a few more seasons then fair enough... That doesn't mean I'm against fighting this nonsense though!

Slough is the largest Town in the Country without a football league team, put that to one side, not to have any form of team playing in the Town is scandalous...

Doesn't Wexham Park have an SL post code???

Yes we are a minority, but a proud one, this club has been around longer than these people care to remember and they choose to ignore that fact...

What makes me laugh is that until the Government intervened for no reason in something that quite frankly is nothing to do with them, these people did not have a clue what was going on, they need to crawl back under their rocks and just let the powers that be make their decision!

Well,GarySTFC,you know more about it than me. I just read the newspaper. It just seems to me that The Slough Observer could have ran with an editorial backing the football club development project, and establishing the facts rather than writing articles and comments intended to inflame the situation.

Being a regular buyer of the newspaper [mainly for Slough Town FC news but not only], over the years there have been frequent articles which have been derogatory to the club,in my opinion.

Whereas The Slough Express are mostly positive, yet they are really a Windsor paper !

Local papers should print the facts, rather than playing 'devil's advocate', to be like the trashy gutter press tabloids,we have at national level.

Part of the problem lies in the fact that most of the people who post on there are against the football ground plans, which plays nicely into the hands of the paper to write stories like this.

It seems that they've ignored the fact that on previous news articles related to the ground, the council have been fighting our corner on their comments section.

I think most of the people who post on the Observer site regarding Arbour Vale are the NYMBYS from Stoke Poges who are very economic with the truth i.e. 'Who would choose a football ground for 200 supporters over a school.'

When the TRUTH is Arbour Vale will benefit not only Slough Town Football Club but much needed affordable housing, sports facilities for all the people of Slough and St Josephs school.

We have to make sure that the WHOLE reason gets out there, as RR said "not only Slough Town Football Club but much needed affordable housing, sports facilities for all the people of Slough and St Josephs school"

The more people JUST talk about our ground, the more the community side of it will be forgotten, and the community side are a major part of the project
