The comments of Neil Baker regarding his small squad of players and their relative success is very interesting. We always seem to think that our large squad was one of our assets so perhaps big is not always beautiful.

A smaller squad probably would work together quite well as they really get used to how each other plays.

I also think with a large squad players can sometimes be dropped for just having ONE bad game.

we have used the same 14 or so players almost throughout the season. few players have come in and a few have left but we really haven't regularly used all that many players. for a start we have pretty much the same lineup give or take 1 or 2 every game

Reading Rebel, just so you know we have been running with a squad of 15 for a vast majority of the season, so we don't actually have the ability to make major changes... Yes there will be one or two, but I can guarantee the side that starts the game Tuesday, most if not all would have started 30 plus league games this year...

It would not be fair on all the other clubs if we did not give it our all, same way if we were still fighting for the league we would not expect Biggleswade to give up their last game against Burnham.

It all leads to an exciting final week of the season for Slough, Royston, Biggleswade and Beaconsfield... Personally I think you guys may have left it just a touch to late, as you need quite a few results to go your way, but the last 3 wins have given you a fighting chance, which after our 3-2 win against you at your place, I did not think you even had an outside chance.

Done a quick count and at least 31 have been quoted in the starting 11 and on the bench.

 

However agree there has been a core of players.

One thing no one seems to have mentioned about the North Greenford game, was the woman ref,who I thought was excellent and a credit to the art of officiating.

The game flowed and she wasn't whistle happy like many of her male counterparts.It also made a pleasant change,having players not having a go at the ref for the slightest little thing and their constant swearing at them.

18 players have played some part of at least 20 matches each. that is out of 30 who have played in total.

I was going to say that Neil!!! I'm sure godalming don't need anyone to tell them that 2nd rather than 3rd guarantees home advantage throughout the play offs. So still plenty for them to play for!!!

Does it not matter whether they finish 2nd or 3rd, still get home advantage?

 

I thought 2nd played 5th (with 2nd having the home advantage) and 3rd play 4th (with 3rd having the home advantage)...
