Harrowboro
Anyone like to advise of a pub near the station that will be showing live football saturday lunch time cheers
dflman
Shakespeare pub is at the bottom of the station approach BUT check on here first as we have screens in the club bar which may be on and you can get a drink and food once the ground is open - leave it to one of the ground people to answer the question hopefully
Broadstairs Dave
If the numbers warrant it the club could open the bar early as they have done in the past and take the entrance money on the door. so please let us know how many .
Harrowboro
train arrives 10 mins after west Ham match kicks off , so if the Shakespeare is near the station & showing the match that will do nicely . We will see you before before the Real match kick off in your bar too. Atleast 8 in our group

dflman
OK - my wife says I'm a bit stupid when a saga looks like starting but there are times when fellow fans need a hand - on the way home last night I drove past the Shakespeare at about 11.15 pm and it was in darkness but I could see a chalked board on the outside of the building. This morning it's tipping down with rain and after trying their phone number which is alternately unobtainable and engaged I got into my car and went down there. It was 12.15 am and no sign of life. The chalk boards were there for sure but, of course, it's been raining and they were virtually blank - I think that they referred to live music they have in the pub and not to football coverage so suspect there is no Sky. In my opinion there are a couple of options for you :- 1/ Your train will be late anyway so give up on the first half and go straight to Hartsdown Park to the clubhouse for drinks and the second half - gates open no later than 1.30 pm I think (someone will be able to confirm that I'm sure). It's easy to get there from the station by going down the station approach to the main road turning right into All Saints Avenue (that horrible tower block will then be on your left) go up the road for a few hundred yards and the park is in front of you - turn left into Tivoli Park Avenue, cross over and go into the park through the first gate you come to which leads you a short distance to the ground. It's probably about 0.4 of a mile and 10 -15 mins tops. 2/ Your train will be early and it will not be pouring with rain - go down the station approach to the main road and walk along the front going past the amusements to the clock tower (you'll need to go to the right of it) and carry on up for a short bit to Purple which has Sky TV but if you prefer carry on another hundred yards cross over the road and go into Cecils which definitely has 6 screens and you might prefer it - you can get back to the ground by retracing your steps to the tower block and turning left into All Saints Avenue. I did come home by this route and clocked it at 0.3 of a mile to Purple from the station so none of it is too far 3/ Someone else will have a better idea possibly
