W/E 20th/21st Fixtures

Strong show without Rosco again bob uk, although he did get a run out late on. Villa could have made a game of it if they had tried to play football and not lost their heads for 15 minutes.

Green Fingers - indeed Cockers and elbows, but the Villa player got a straight red for trying to break Heaume's leg, and my point was what kind of coach actually condones the use of an elbow ?

My wider point GG is that in the heat of a competitive game things are often done / said that do not reflect the true nature of the person that said / done the deed. I'm not sure if if was an elbow that broke the Villa players nose? - it certainly wasn't self-inflicted -so maybe the coach was asking the Ref his views on that incident?. Good to see GFC almost back to their best - they certainly missed Cockers.

Paul De Garis is on the bench ahead of Tom Creed. Ollie Mckenzie is replaced by Tom Strawbridge after he took a knock against 'The Villains'. Matt Loaring also picked up an injury and Dominic Heaume has been given a well deserved rest.

Sam Cochrane (Captain)

Naro ZImmerman

Tom Strawbridge

Alex Le Prevost

Guernsey simply too many games in to few days

started sluggish for the first fifteen then got going, played quite well for a team who was playing 14/15 hours ago.

chessington back four played well, second half you see already they were running on empty, decision making, bad passes, poor control from players all better than todays performance

chessington took the lead, we went to three at the back and gave all they had left in an attempt to get the equaliser against two rows of four that defended very well

we got caught on the break, never mind it was do or die 1-0 2-0 at least we gave it a go.

well done to chessington much improved on their home game

lads just need some rest for wednesday

and the coach needs to rotate more players if he has any left after so many games

Westfield v South Kilburn.

Amazing to think that the mud wind and rain at Frimley was only last Saturday!

Could only happen in South Kilburn games,Westfields goal came from a Free Kick, where the defender has clearly got to the ball before the westfield player 3mins 12secs,and then gets booked into the bargain. The highlight however was 5mins 30secs in,Westfield have a throw in,another ball enters the field of play,Ref rightly blows whistle to stop play, throw in to be retaken?NO.he then kindly drops it at the feet of a Westfield Player uncontested, play on.Was the Referee Mr Crick?Normally one of the better CCL1 Officials.

The FK at 3m12 looks like the right decision to me. The defender leaves his foot in and catches the attacker -- painful! No obvious argument from the defender or the rest of his team for that one.

Giving the drop ball was right as well - the ball was in play at the time the referee blew up. Clearly, the SK player wasn't ready at the time the ball was dropped though !!

Mewcenary

Do CCL referees normally have their AR's running right backs? And how did the South Kilburn goalscorer 'get away' with wearing clearly visible black undershorts?

WB

Verty unusual nowdays but Mr Crick is very much old school and would have refereed with his assistants running right backs for many a year

What are the reasons for favouring one over the other?

One reason could be that after a sustained period of poor weather the touchline area alongside the more usual "left-back" position becomes too worn and thus slippery. Has to be difficult for the ref though to look at opposite angles than usual.

Must admit that a week or two back at Dorking, first time I can remember that the AR was not running the line in front of the clubhouse. Just wondered why Mr Crick being "old school" would lead to him having the AR's the other way round?

That's the way he has always refereed and he isn't going to change now

At the Sandhurst v Windsor game last Tuesday the Referee was Andrew Connor and he had the AR's running the lines the other way round..

After Saturday's game I can confirm that Sandhurst are still most definitely up for the survival battle. There was real commitment from their players who were prepared to fight to the last, even at one point appearing to criticise their Manager for some tactics.

Did they deserve the win? No. Did Epsom? No. We started better but as the half closed, they started to look quite dangerous and when we could only half clear a long throw their oncoming player buried it for a lead that was probably deserved at that point.

From there Epsom started to improve. We stopped our ludicrous experiment of playing a centre half up front (what message does that send to our players when we do that?) and immediately looked better, equalising within three minutes of the substitution, and from then on we were definitely finishing the stronger of the two, but Sandhurst defended well and pinched the points with a late goal that came from a deep cross which was headed back across our keeper by a player who had too much space.

It was also rather worrying to note the report from a League official in the League bulletin that advised Sandhurst's first goal was a good move (it was our assist from a long throw) and the second was a shot! I hope that guy wasn't a referee in an earlier life :)

Anyways, whatever. We "rested" some players and some were away, and maybe we were looking ahead to the "bigger" matches on the horizon and for a combination of all that we got our fingers burned. Indeed we were very fortunate that Cove and South Park also suffered surprise defeats or it could have been more serious.

Good luck to Sandhurst for the rest of the season and I hope you stay up, even if for me it's further away than a trip to Dorking next season. I think it's the Chicks that need to worry now.

On another subject, well played Chessington & Hook. Organised is not a word you usually describe but committed most definitely is. Are they the first team to stop Guernsey scoring at home in two years?
