michael
I think there has-and yep-despite poor recent form-more points accumulated ? But is that down to one man ? Not wishing to 'big up ' the joint manager, but to have a quality and consistent goalkeeper has made a major difference. I'm sure he has made a clanger or two and over a season-the best in the world will as weel -but can't actually remember (getting himself sent off my also class as a mistake ) but Holloway has made some great saves to help wins games-and compare that with last season when we had smelt and overland . (or the season before when did'nt we have about 9 goalkeepers ?) I think smelt cost us a few points-and i thought overland was better than many rated;but at the same time Holloway is a class above and much much better. Had either smelt or overland been in goal this season-would we have conceded more ? Thus-is the 'progress ' this season whether under CK or under SOHO actually that much ;and is the 'progress ' that has been made-purely down to having a better and less error prone goalkeeper ? Coffin Ender
This table tells you all you need to know. First half of the season we were mostly in the top four, and for several weeks we were top. Second half of the season we haven't climbed any higher than fifth. http://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/progress/margate?show=position
Cookie
Absolutely agree about Holloway. Best keeper we have had for many a year. Definately helps matters. As for improvement.Yes,mid season.Looked really good but then in the last 5 or 6 games and due to whatever reasons (valid or not) you wish to apply have looked like a bottom of the table side. dflman
There have been some definite positives for me with more football being played and less hoofing although still don't understand the way all the players of both sides group together when a goal kick is being taken. Craig has been a good keeper all season albeit one or two clangers which must be expected of anyone in that position. If Ivesy can get the pitch into better condiiton over the summer period when hopefully the two or three dodgy spots will be excavated and revamped that wil help with not having postponements which have not been in our favour. Plus of course I think we will probably have another vertidrain whipround as that definitely worked.
Broadstairs Dave
The positives. Goalkeeper throwing out to set up attacks at last. Much more wing play on both flanks, defenders are so used to coping with hoof ball that they have lost the skills to defend when a player runs at them. The midfield with Avery and Stubbs snuffing out many attacks before they really made any impact. And last but not least some variety in play when we kick off. Every team knew what we were going to do before then.
