I can understand why the question keeps being asked (Vase semi was 6k a week v 0k a week) and it's normal for step 5/6 sides and above to get paid (not all but most).

 

GFC is a special case in many, many ways.

 

They definitely do not get paid - fact/period/end of.

 

Most have understanding/flexible employers who value the fact that one of their employees is involved in a project the island is so proud of.

As has been pointed out they do not get paid. A fair few work in the finance industry and they tend to be quite flexible eg allowing them to make up time.

 

Assuming they continue to move up the leagues I'd think they might get paid once they reach a certain level. Not sure what this level would be or how much though.

Most are sponsored in the programme, but as that money goes to GFC..

when saturdays game was postponed i was told five of the squad went to work instead to make up the time lost from the tuesday before

 

so it really is a case of work sleep, travel and play football for most of the squad

 

i was told one lad did not have a holiday last season or will do this season as all his leave was used up travelling for games

and no expenses no pay just personal commitment

Chubby you'll have to do better than that to get a bite these days - they're a lot more streetwise after a couple of seasons on the forum

As far as money 'payments' are concerned, the question is all in the wording.

 

Question:- "Are any of the players payed ?"

 

Answer:- "NO."

 

Whereas the question should then be.....

 

"Do any of the players receive any financial payment in the form of bonus/expenses/match incentive ?"

 

Answers on a income-tax declaration, to................... !!
