Relegation Run In

Recommended Posts

After our recent lacklustre performances have kept us at the top of the relegation pile rather than kicking on to mid-table respectability, I thought I would check the fixtures for the remainder of the season for the teams at risk of dropping down a division.

Cray Wanderers vs East Thurrock United

Hampton & Richmond vs Harrow Borough

Hendon vs Hastings United

Thurrock vs Canvey Island

There's too many permutations to realistically work out what will happen. It would take an almighty effort for the teams around us to win all their games, especially against sides vying for the play-offs or even home advantage in the play-offs.

As we look like relying on teams around us getting beat, the good news is that as well as some hard matches against teams at the top, some of our relegation threatened opponents will be playing each other. Here's the matches just involving the relegation threatened teams.

Thursday 18th April 2013

Hastings United vs Carshalton Athletic

Saturday 20th April 2013

Harrow Borough vs Lewes

Tuesday 23rd April 2013

Cray Wanderers vs Lewes

Thurrock vs Enfield Town

Saturday 27th April 2013

Enfield Town vs Carshalton Athletic

Wingate & Finchley vs Cray Wanderers

The easiest scenario for us of course would be to beat Hendon on Saturday. Easier said than done at the moment, but I hate to think what would happen if results on Tuesday and Thursday go against us. We'll all be watching closely.

Good point OT

Worst case scenario fur us tomorrow is wins for Cray, Thurrock, Harrow and Hastings. That would drop us two places. East Thurrock though have found themselves as realistic play-off contenders this past week. A win for them against Cray will go a long way to see them playing after the 27th April. And to think, we completely outplayed them back in October for 72 minutes before we lost 3-2. How times have changed.

TONIGHT'S RESULTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE TABLE

Cray Wanderers 2 East Thurrock United 2

Hampton and Richmond Borough 0 Harrow Borough 0

Hendon 2 Hastings United 0

Thurrock 0 Canvey Island 1

Hastings United v Carshalton Athletic is MASSIVE on Thursday night. The loser will be in deep trouble. A draw will do neither side any favours. Talk about a relegation six pointer!! On form you have to say Carshalton should win it but you never know!.

I think it's one of either Hastings or Carshalton + one of Lewes, Cray, W&F, Thurrock or us to fill the other spot.

Finger nails at the ready!!!!

The real world is so depressing. It could be worse, you could be going to work with a major funeral event of an ex PM in Town to create chaos............................................................I still think we are ok, I predict 1 of Hastings, Lewes and Carshalton to sink with Thurrorck on a losing run too.

Oh dear!

From non league daily.

Hastings remained next to bottom after they were beaten 2-0 at Hendon and finished with nine men. Lee O’Leary opened the scoring on 21 minutes and Isaiah Rankin claimed the second deep into added time. By then Hastings duo Danny Ellis and Tom Vickers had been sent off. Two unused substitutes, Jamie Crellin and player-manager Sean Ray, were also dismissed.

Carshalton beating Hastings on Thursday was their 4th win in a row. An amazing run considering who they've played. Lots of hard games today for all the teams at the bottom including us. I can't see us getting any points today I'm afraid, so let's see what the league looks like later today.

Quote from Nonleague :-

Promotion and Relegation matters.

"It all means that, with just a week left in the campaign, only four clubs - Leiston, Bognor, Hampton and Enfield - know for sure that they will be in this division next season".

Well, there it is in black and white - nice read !!!!

Just wanted to check where we are now as we enter the last week of the regular season. Are we really safe? The answer is yes. It's all due to Cray having to play W&F on the last day of the season.

Below I've got the projected league tables from Harrow downwards if results went against us. I've made all wins 1-0 for any relegation threatened side, and where two of the relegation teams play each other, I've given the three possible scenarios, a 1-0 win to either side and a 1-1 draw.

So, after Tuesday, assuming these results:

Bury Town 0-1 Hastings United

Cray Wanderers 1-0 Lewes or Cray Wanderers 0-1 Lewes or Cray Wanderers 1-1 Lewes

East Thurrock United 0-1 Harrow Borough

Thurrock 1-0 Enfield Town

Cray Win

15 Harrow Borough 40 44 -16

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Cray Wanderers 41 44 -24

18 Thurrock 41 41 -18

19 Lewes 41 39 -16

20 Hastings United 40 39 -21

21 Wingate & Finchley 40 38 -27

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

Lewes Win

15 Harrow Borough 40 44 -16

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Lewes 41 42 -15

18 Thurrock 41 41 -18

19 Cray Wanderers 41 41 -26

20 Hastings United 40 39 -21

21 Wingate & Finchley 40 38 -27

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

1-1 Draw

15 Harrow Borough 40 44 -16

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Cray Wanderers 41 42 -25

18 Thurrock 41 41 -18

19 Lewes 41 40 -16

20 Hastings United 40 39 -21

21 Wingate & Finchley 40 38 -27

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

On to Thursday:

East Thurrock United 0-1 Hastings United

Harrow Borough 1-0 Bognor Regis Town

Wingate & Finchley 1-0 Lowestoft Town

Cray Win on Tuesday

15 Harrow Borough 41 47 -15

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Cray Wanderers 41 44 -24

18 Hastings United 41 42 -20

19 Thurrock 41 41 -18

20 Wingate & Finchley 41 41 -26

21 Lewes 41 39 -16

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

Lewes Win on Tuesday

15 Harrow Borough 41 47 -15

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Lewes 41 42 -15

18 Hastings United 41 42 -20

19 Thurrock 41 41 -18

20 Cray Wanderers 41 41 -26

21 Wingate & Finchley 41 41 -26

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

1-1 Draw on Tuesday

15 Harrow Borough 41 47 -15

16 Enfield Town 41 44 -22

17 Hastings United 41 42 -20

18 Cray Wanderers 41 42 -25

19 Thurrock 41 41 -18

20 Wingate & Finchley 41 41 -26

21 Lewes 41 40 -16

22 Carshalton Athletic 41 37 -22

As you can see, Carshalton in this scenario would be relegated, so they'll be hoping for results to give them a chance. As mentioned, on Saturday W&F host Cray, so we've either got a draw or a win for one of these sides.

Enfield Town 0-1 Carshalton Athletic

Hastings United 1-0 Kingstonian

Lewes 1-0 Bury Town

Margate 0-1 Harrow Borough

Thurrock 1-0 Metropolitan Police

Wingate & Finchley 1-0 Cray Wanderers or Wingate & Finchley 0-1 Cray Wanderers or Wingate & Finchley 1-1 Cray Wanderers

Cray Win on Tuesday v Lewes, Cray beat W&F

15 Harrow Borough 42 50 -14

16 Cray Wanderers 42 47 -23

17 Hastings United 42 45 -19

18 Thurrock 42 44 -17

19 Enfield Town 42 44 -23

20 Lewes 42 42 -15

21 Wingate & Finchley 42 41 -27

22 Carshalton Athletic 42 40 -21

Lewes Win on Tuesday v Cray, W&F beat Cray

19 Enfield Town 42 44 -23

20 Wingate & Finchley 42 44 -25

21 Cray Wanderers 42 41 -27

22 Carshalton Athletic 42 40 -21

1-1 Draw on Tuesday, Cray v Lewes, 1-1 Draw Cray v W&F

15 Harrow Borough 42 50 -14

16 Hastings United 42 45 -19

17 Thurrock 42 44 -17

18 Enfield Town 42 44 -23

19 Lewes 42 43 -15

20 Cray Wanderers 42 43 -25

21 Wingate & Finchley 42 42 -26

22 Carshalton Athletic 42 40 -21
