Billericay 1 Salisbury (Town) City 2

Recommended Posts

The result was fair but the score flattered Town.

With 9 men in front of the keeper and Jay May up front on his own with next to no service it was like watching San Marino for much of the match.

Swainey's goal was flukey but enjoyable and I think that wa Billericay's only meaningful shot on Salisbury's goal.

City moved the ball around very well, even with the pitch cutting up before the game had even started. They had plenty of possession and pressure but found it hard to break down the massed defence. That said the defence did spend too much time messing about in stead of clearing their lines and releasing the pressure.

Jay May got a lot of stick, unfairly in my opinion, as he was given scraps to feed on for much of the time.

Still, was great to hear The Boomtown Rats played before kick-off.

Word of the day: Hooters.

Really wasn't impressed, outplayed in every single aspect and the ryman premier is looking more likely, players who had a poor one were collis and beckles, all we need is someone who can play a ball. Like what salisbury had, players who could knock it about,oh well, hopefully we go on a bit of a F.A cup run next year

I'm sure Salisbury are a professional side, if not they have been playing at a professional level in the very recent past and that showed.

Salisbury were very good especially in the second half. We were down to the bare bones and our lads did the best they could. I think the 4-5-1 query is a valid one but for me Osborn and Semakula joined in as much as they could and had we played 4 4 2 we would have seen even less of the ball than we did.

I really hope the boys can find a win on Tuesday just to give us a squeak going into the last few games. Come on lads!!

Massive difference in ability between the two sides. I guess that's why they're looking at promotion and we're looking at relegation! We lost 5 players for the rest of the season during the week. With Lette-Jallow not involved, I take it we've lost 6! We sat too deep and allowed Salisbury to dominate. It was only a matter of time before they scored. I'm sure the players are doing they're best but we're up against better opposition. To give ourselves a better chance on Tuesday we've got to drop Beckles and Douglas. I'm not slating them but Richard Hall looks a better left back and Beckles offers little. We're down to the barebones, BUT a win on Tuesday keeps the faint smell of survival alive. You just never know!

Singling out a couple of individuals doesn't help anyone but you're not slating of course. I thought they were as good as anyone else yesterday. I just hope they don't read the forum as it will lower their confidence even more. I can't think who you would replace Beckles with ?

Salisbury are second for a reason. Yesterday's game could be all but written off, anything from the game would have been a massive plus.

The team can now go in to the last few games knowing its not over yet and their future is in their hands/at their feet.

COYB!

Should we go down it's not because of performances or results like yesterday. Conceding late goals has cost us

Tonbridge x 2

Bromley

Maidenhead

That's 6 points straight away

The league table doesn't lie. Salisbury looked a quality side who could pop it about on a stodgy pitch. We looked poor and I'm afraid to say it, doomed to relegation.

It has been a similar story nearly every time we have played ball playing teams this year and the tactics and playing style that proved so successful last season can only get you so far in this division I'm afraid. We've done the best with the budget we have for quite a while now and that is why for me Craig is the best Manager we have had for a long long time.

We need to win all our remaining games which is unlikely looking at our current form. But, whilst there is still a chance im sure we will all encourage the lads until the last kick.

Just expressing an opinion that I would drop Douglas and Beckles! Centre-mid of Poole and Semakula for me in a 4-4-2. I'll assume Staines aren't as good as Salisbury so we might as well open up the game and go for it.

You still haven't said who you would bring in for Beckles.

Our passing and delivery were awful yesterday. Yes, Salisbury are clearly a better side, but if we had performed to the best of our ability we would have given them a good game on yesterdays showing. I think we had one meaningful shot on goal in the whole game, The killer was when we had our best 'chance' of the second half, where Osborne and Beckles both failed to get shots away, and they went straight up the other end and scored.

Let's be honest, most of us expected to lose yesterday, it was just going ahead that gave us a bit of false hope (not for the first time). If we go down (not going to say 'when' just yet), it won't be that result we look back on, it'll be the late goals that Barry mentioned above. Add Basingstoke to that list.

We were outplayed yesterday, but it is still possible (just).

Back 4 of Collis, Wild, Hudson and Hall. Poole/Semakula centre-mid. Osborn on the right, Onwubiko on the left. If we can't nick Joe Benjamin back, then Adewumni with May upfront.

The answer is Onwubiko.

So you would also drop Swaine, play a youth team full back who has only played one game in a 6-1 defeat, play 2 forwards out of position on the wing and a play a striker who hasn't played all season ? Sounds good to me, let's go for a 10-9 win.
