Hx 1 Truro 2

cup of tea

Recommended Posts

Suppose no-one else will want to start this off so I will.

From the off, we were all over Truro and it looked like there was only going to be one winner. Then one event changed the entire game.

I have never criticised an individual player before, but Lewis Smith getting sent off changed the entire game for us. He's been a great player all season for us particularly recently but today he let his emotions get the better of him.

Hit the woodwork three times, shot from Lewis rattled the underside of the crossbar, very soft goal to give away just after the second half kicked off. Just unfortunate really.

Great double save from Woolley from the penalty to keep us in it. Alex Bentley had a blinding game.

It's going to be difficult for us now, we need to get something away at Sutton and that isn't going to be easy.

Big hand to the Truro fans who supported their team really well. Hats off to them.

This was a one sided affair for the first 35 minutes and then a match changing incident chances galore for both sides fair play to Truro and their fans some devine intervention needed now

Fat lady still singing but tending to lose her voice. Afraid Lewis let his heart rule his head. Perhaps one day he will learn to curb his emotions and become a better player for it.

The (deserved) sending off changed the game, only one team in it up until that point.

Things looking a bit grim I’m afraid. Sutton has never been a happy hunting ground for the Urchins.

We live in hope however faint…………….

Come on you Urchins…………

This was the game we should have scored many more goals, particularly in the first half. In no way should Truro have taken the lead. When we tried to turn it round we let another goal in through poor defending. At the moment we are struggling for goals and defending poorly. This is the stage of the season where we need results and one against Bromley just isn't enough. We need plenty of luck now and a significant improvement on the pitch ourselves I feel to remain in this league.

The best idea would be to forget about the league now and concentrate fully on the cup final Monday. If we can win this one then it will give us some confidence going into the tough league matches.

only joe's double save stood out today , poor result , crowd weather etc etc , its back to the ryman league im affraid as we havent been to far off at times but as the results show we are just not good enough , always we seem to been unlucky etc but times run out really needed that one big final push over the last few games and it hasnt happened there was only one team that really wanted the win today and it wasnt the urchins , joey may is now going to be missing for the rest of the season , hayes and yeading have somehow found some really good form and billericay still have maidenhead to come at home so theres points there for either or both , :(

Think its a bit harsh to say only Joe's superb double save stood out today. I thought some of our players ran themselves into the ground today in search of the points - particularly Alex Bentley who was all over the pitch. Great effort. Shame to lose Joey May to suspension now as he has become a real playmaker and his emergence has been one of the positives of this year.

In fairness the team looked fired up from the off and played decent football but the sending off changed the game. Hit the woodwork three times and on another day we could have had the points but defensive errors cost us rather than lack of comitment.

Two games to go and although it looks bleak stranger things have happened in football.

Best I don't comment

Go on, just say it!

I know i wasnt at the game so shouldnt really comment, but iam entitled to an opinion, and i will say this;

That individual player has cost us big time! Deep down, we all know he is a decent player and on his day he can win games.

However his actions, that of which happend yesterday, and several actions over this season, make me, in my opinion think that he is not fit to wear the shirt!

His inexcuseable poor attitude, is not fit and suitable for this club.

OUT!!!!!

i thought at the time that the said player was going to get a foul given in his favour ,a truro player had a couple of niggles at him the ref had seemed set to blow the whistle then the ball had got loose towards barry hayles by then a bit of the red mist had come down , not sure what now happens as to when the suspension kicks in ......

Hopefully not until next season, Dagger will have a better idea than me though.

Just to make it clear - if we do go down then it won't be because of this match, there's been lots of extra points that we could have made during the season. The fact of the matter is that we are playing against clubs who are either already established in this league and/or clubs who have got much bigger budgets than we have got.

I'm sorry to have mentioned Lewis personally, there's plenty of games where he would have got us points but the fact of the matter it that it was a vital game yesterday and one that we would have won easily had we had kept 11 players on the pitch. I never for one minute expected Truro to roll over and it's a credit to their management and playing staff that they worked so hard to get a result but defensively they were poor and we should have got a result.

up to then i thougth lewis was playing well , made some good runs and was even making some decent passes looked like it could have been a game where he could have bossed the truro defence, we should have made the most of the first half i dont think truro got into our half at all during the first 45 minutes but we have had several matches when thats been said this season cant put the blame on lewis for everything but he did cost us yesterday for sure ....
