v Godalming

Recommended Posts

Shame about the sendings off because with 11 players on the pitch I thought Godalming were there for the taking today.

Both red cards were avoidable.

Woozie gets a red trying to rectify another calamitous blunder from you know who.

O'Toole was on a yellow card and really shouldn't have given the Ref the opportunity to give him a second yellow by diving in on the player.

Must say I was proud of all the outfield players today who showed real guts and fighting spirit against overwhelming odds.

Can I also say it was blindingly obvious from very early on that Godalming continually looked for their number 11, Darren Wheeler and unfortunately we continued to give him enough space down our left flank to make him look like a superstar. If the game goes ahead on Tuesday, whether it's Swifty or Murphy can we please get tighter to him otherwise he'll continue to look like a world beater.

The last few games are interesting and its still not over our last three games are against very poor teams currently 17th 19th and 20th so those should produce 9 points We can end up with a maximum of 83 Biggleswade need just 5 points from 4 games to exceed that but 2 of those games are against Sycob and Burnham Sycob need just 7 pts from4 but must face Godalming and Biggleswade We need to win our next 2 and we are still in with a shout (not very loud though) Our run in over the last 8 or so games when extra effort was needed has been a disgrace In the next 2 games we need to stop bottling and start battling

Didn't think we bottled it today but battled to the end.

Cannot legislate for those 2 daft red cards.

unfair to say we didn't battle but yeah the season is all but over now (some could say it was done a few games ago). bitterly dissapointed as though we battled superbly despite the loss of 2 players the game was there for the taking today.

unfortunately a poor kick set them clear Wooz gets sent off and from there on it was such an uphill battle

good to see us not roll over though after the superb 2nd Godalming and as said previous had it stayed 10 vs 11 we probably wouldn't have lost. if anything when O'Toole get sent off we looked just as likely if not more likely to score the next goal

Don't get me wrong. It's extremely unlikely but possible still (just).

So our fixtures are Godalming (a), Rugby (a), North Greenford (a), Thatcham (a), Chertsey (h). Realistically We'd need maximum points (highly unlikely given our recent run) and that would take us to 83 points So if we take things based on 83 points.

Biggleswade Remaining Fixtures

Northwood (H), SYCOB (A), Guildford (A), Burnham (H)

4 points from these 4 fixtures gets them 83 points (Their GD much better than ours though)

SYCOB Remaining Fixtures

AFC Hayes (H), Biggleswade (H), Godalming (A), Ashford (A).

6 points from these 4 fixtures would get them 83 points (Our GD much better than theirs)

Royston

Woodford(A), Ashford (H), Northwood (H), AFC Hayes (A)

9 points from these 4 fixtures would get them to 83 points (Our GD much better than theirs)

(I think they will win all 4 mind)

I will say one thing though, all those three teams fixtures are far from easy. That said we'd need maximum points IMO. No room for error.

Agree with everything you say here,Reading Rebel. Thought the players were outstanding yesterday and with 11 players on the pitch would have given Godalming a run for their money.

I was standing near the Godalming dug out and Jon Underwood, their joint manager, told his players to target Stuart Swift because he thought he wasn't a left back. Hence their threat down that side.

My man of the match was Alex Brown, who galvanised the team with a battling performance.Even with 9 men I thought we may get an equalizer, given the conditions, with a long range shot and a possible deflection. So was a bit bemused when Steve Bateman decided to take Stuart Swift off.Thought he was our best bet for an equalizer.Obviously, I was clutching at straws by then.
