Weekend Matches 12/13/14 April

Recommended Posts

Frimley 2-1 Westfield

Tight match as expected. Wind and conditions played a huge part. We took an early lead with a superb goal from JJ but Frimley hit back with a header and then a second which was all our doing. Very angry about it.

Second half with the wind we had the possesion but never penetrated the Frimley back line who defended magnificentley. A few superb blocks. I dont think we deserved to lose the game but certainly didnt warrant winning it. We've lost though so well done to Frimley. we go again next week as we host Kilburn.

I fancy spelly to nick a promotion place!

I don't, too many teams above them that are better/stronger.

If they keep the same squad for next season I would fancy them then.

Have any other games been rained off today?

Those games will be slotted in midweek before the end of the season without too much fuss. It's the extra logistics of flights, hotel bookings, work arrangements etc that make rearranging GFC games at short notice so difficult. There is an increasing danger that they may not be able to complete their fixtures. I hope they do, as it would be a travesty to miss promotion by not having had the chance to amass sufficient points.

Yes - the Usual suspects

Games off today at Ash, Chessington, Dorking, Guernsey, Hanworth Villa, South Park, Cobham, South Kilburn, Sandhurst, Farnham & Westfield. Are you saying none of those should ever be promoted?

What do you expect these clubs to do? Change the clay under their pitches for something more permeable? Perhaps Dorking can ask Surrey County Council to move the Surrey Hills so the water from them doesn't drain into Dorking.

The refs in this league don't help as they're scared someone might die or something by playing on a wet pitch. I mentioned it a month or so back that other leagues don't suffer the amount of postponements the CCL does. One of the ref's defenders on here said it was because step 4 clubs have better pitches. Doesn't explain how most step 5 leagues in other parts of the country get more games played and most games at step 7 and lower in Surrey were played today.

Just becoming boring now though Masie. GFC should not be allowed to be promoted until they sort the drainage out on their terrible pitch.

What a load of old sh*te you spout at times Chubby. Time you nailed your colours to the mast instead of giving us all this CCL watcher rubbish.

Camberley 2 v 3 Egham

Egham started the stronger but didnt really look like scoring until the dear Assistant took centre stage. Eghams 1st pen was one of those that people will debate but considering a similar challenge went unpunished the other way a few minutes earlier you can understand the grievances. The 2nd penalty has to be the worst decision I have seen for a long time. Camberleys keeper not only touched the ball he got the whole damn thing. for the Assistant to award a penalty was the start of the injustice. For the ref then to send him off when the ball was heading somewhere near the corner flag was equally as bad. anyway 2-0 to Egham and Camberley down to 10. 2nd half started with what I understand also to be a ridiculous decision to award us a penalty. Almost like the ref realised he had c*cked up huge time. 2-1. From them Egham dominated ball possession and scored a 3rd before Camberley made it a late difficult 5 mins for Egham but they held on. I am no big fan of Egham and there are people associated with their club I will never have a lot of time for but the people there today conducted themselves well and it is pleasing that the 3 top sides in this division (Egham, Guernsey and Cove) are full of players that dont spend their time haranging officials. It would have been easy to do that today but Egham concentrated on the football and the 3 important points. Fair play to them for that and good luck to them for the rest of the season.

To be fair Chubby has a point, I don't agree that they shouldn't be promoted but on the pitch side of things, how many games have they had called off? Especially if they keep going for the vase every year there just creating so many games for themselves. You can't progress through the leagues playing 19 games in how many days!!
