Thatcher myths exploded....

Recommended Posts

LOL. I'm semi-retired at 53, thanks largely to 30 years in BT with a pension and benefits secured by the now defunct National Communications Union. But I grafted my nuts off for it. I was orphaned at 16 and worked as hard as I could from that day to be where I am now. I was never a governor but was a brilliant front line grunt. :P

You are a bit of both then......... in SMALL doses! ;)

I don't own my own property but that's down to me being a lazy bum and losing my business back in the early 2000s,something that was pretty much consigned to the scrap heap once the fuel strikes crippled me for 3 weeks

So your a lazy bum, yet you still blame the unions for your business going tits up. I worked my socks off. own my own property outright and retired so early I could offer financial and child minding support to my family whenever needed, and its all thanks to being loyal to my socialist principles, and belonging to a trade union.

I really must try and stop laughing at the irony of it all.

No,I said I used to be a lazy bum Alan,I quite openly admit it.I was hardworking until I lost my business but it knocked me for 6 and I wandered around aimlessly for the next 5 or so years doing meaningless jobs with no confidence and if I lost those jobs then I wouldn't really be too bothered about finding another one such was the ease that the then current government used to throw money at people.

You say you got what you have from the Unions, but it was a union led strike which led to my business being destroyed some 10/11 years ago,no fcker from the unions came and helped me out in my hour of need, all I wanted to do was be able to work while th fckng unions stopped me doing so.

Fed up of the self righteous fckng unions thinking they are the saviour of the working man in this country when the truth is that they are no different from the people they are against in that they only help their own,not on board with the unions, well go fck yourself, sound familiar to the " I'm alright jack" garbage that the right are always preached to????

Oh dear, you really should try and get your facts right before you post your usual anti union garbage.

The fuel shortages at the start of the millennium was because NON UNIONISED owner drivers and farmers blockaded fuel depots and stopped us from going about our lawful business. We all still had to report for duty every day, and I don't thing a single driver failed to turn up for work because they couldnt get petrol for their cars. I also remember drivers delivering to hospitals and fire stations needing police protection from the ugly mob . We threatened industrial action a few years later but a reasonable settlement was reached, and no fuel shortages took place.

I would imagine the reason your business went tits up was because you was a lazy bum who couldnt be bothered to wait for a few minutes at one of the many forecourts still open for business.

Wait a few minutes ,you really are deluded.

You couldn't get diesel anyway

Diesel was still obtainable but in shorter supply because the NON UNION people that was causing the disruption had been stock piling for months, and as everyone knew what was coming you only had yourself to blame for not doing the same.

Maybe you would like to say why your business really went broke, because it certainly wasn't anything to do with any trade union.
