Lewes tonight - A message to the squad

Good luck to the players tonight.

We really really need a result tonight. We cannot afford to let this one slip.

Lewes for their own reasons will be busting a gut to get all three points and we will have to do the same (not like Tuesdays dismal efforts).

Get stuck in there & want to win the game more than they do (and there will be plenty of that that's a certainty), defend better and put those chances we might get away.

Go out there and play your very best.

The result will be looked at with interest by many clubs tonight so lets play to win.

Chase everything and do not give up on what you think are lost balls, close players down much quicker,do not stand /back off off them and get your shooting boots on.Be secure and confident in defence.Be a unit like at no other time in the season.

Its close to that winning post now so lets not blow it this time. It's all in your hands (or feet should I say).

3 points please, the hard way or the easy way,it matters not but 3 points please.

You can do it if the attitude is right and you have that self belief within you on the night from the start until the final whistle.

Do not come off that pitch tonight feeling you have let yourselves and others down. Come off proud and with the points.

Yep-good luck tonight.

This is starting to look all a bit too tough.

I reckon will need 72 points to make top 5,so 4 wins from next 5 matches.

That will take some achieving.

minor re-think-

i think 71 points will do it-but that still means 4 wins out of 5, unless ETU lose tonight-in which case,70 points would be enough for 5th imo.

what does the team think ?

Sheer waste of time correct and I know they look in on here.

I'm getting a bad taste in my mouth about these past few results and to me something is not quite right. We cannot under perform so consistently whilst there is such a prize at stake unless players are playing to order. The players might somehow have lost their ability which would account for this slump but I wont go with that one.

Yes,I know you will say,hey Cookie, clutching at straws, finding excuses and don't be so silly, too far fetched but really, why are we not even scoring a goal in defeat. Why are we not playing with desire. Why are so many players out of form at one time. Players that have done so superbly up to this point to get into the position we are in. If the players were jockeys I would say they were trying to throw the race.

Bloody hell I got carried away there somewhat. Anyways rant over!

Ok moving on, on to Saturday where we entertain Met Police who are trying desperately to take our place in those play offs (amongst others)

Met police will come with the same attitude and desire as Carshalton,East Thurrock and Lewis have shown. I want proof on Saturday that something is not amiss and that we can muster up a performance to surpass that of the opposition.

One last chance on Saturday to get what we have deserved over the season. A place in the play offs. After that its fingers crossed and hopes for a return to form, form that we can and have shown until recently, to push us on and into Conference South.

Saturday v Met Police is a Cup final day so we need to step up to the mark and see players giving us absolutely everything.

I'm probably wasted my breath again I know but anything less and I'll have my suspicions raised once again & I'll be calling for a stewards enquiry.

what a time to get a slump in form after so much promise of great things to come, still not out of a play off place I know but think it will be down to other teams now which is not a good thing, but strange things happen so maybe all good in the end .....only plus is we are not fighting relegation like seasons before.....

One of those other teams being Met Police. Massive game on Saturday, massive. We cannot and must not slip up against them. Defeat or even a draw cannot be the outcome in this game .A must must win game!

We have quite a few players who will not be with us next season regardless of what happens at the end of the season. So they have no stake in us being promoted or not. Also, injuries to various players have caught up with us, I feel.

There wasn't much in tonight's game but I won't begrudge Lewes their win. Not a great deal of chances for either team but Lewes scored, we didn't.

I accept the above which is indeed a stumbling block with some players, just riding the season out,but they should be more professional in their game and have pride in what they are doing.

The players of Carshalton and those of East Thurrock and Lewis all have that thought within them but they are and will be willing to fight for every ball and I would hope ours would be willing to put themselves on the line in similar fashion.

We the supporter need not turn up then if they were all in that way of thinking and we might just as well phone the opposition we are about to face and just give them the 3 points over the phone and save them the journey.

I know its not quite like that and I'm probably stretching things there and being unfair to those that are seeing out the season with pride but yes you are correct in that some won't bother as much as others do which is a damned shame.
