Photos from the game today if you fancy it folks. A good game that deserved a draw I thought.

Weather was atrocious tho. I have never been so soaked taking photos in my life

Some good photos there, Lisa, but did I happen to spot Warren Gatland in one of the pics? (second column, 16th pic down)

If not, he sure looks like him!

Not a good game but a great result for Frimley Green. Why does the league insist on appointing junior officials for such a good game. At times the referee was struggling and was swayed by players and the crowd on a number of decisions.I saw him a few weeks ago at a reserve game and he was struggling to control the game then. However credit to the players for keeping their cool. This game needed an experienced referee and its about time the League used their brains and helped young referees

It should be noted that some of the younger referees (I'm including myself in this definition ;) ) are going through the promotion system. For this season, this has meant working on CCFL Div 1 and Reserves, and being assessed on some of those games too. A minimum of three, and most likely five.

In the case of that being successful (along with some other bits and pieces, like a fitness test), a referee will be nominated to the FA for consideration for promotion to level 4 (which would mean refereeing on the Premier). As a result, it would not be unusual for those referees to be given more challenging games as part of preparing them for that jump. Remember, they would have already proven themselves on previous games, with the assessment marks backing that up.

It's a balancing act. If you gave all the tasty games to the more experienced level 5s (including those officials that have refereed at a higher level, sometimes MUCH higher), the up and coming referees would never get that opportunity.

Anand Desai is the refs name. He is looking to get promotion to the next step next season.

From talking to some of the other refs, getting the bigger games is essential to their promotion hopes. They have to be able to handle the bigger games and are marked on them for their progression. Someone mentioned this above and they are spot on.

I think Anand did ok considering. It was a tough game on a tough pitch in tough conditions and the crowd (on both sides) were always going to give the ref a hard time whoever it was.
