Recommended Posts

While the exact workings yet to be announced regarding promotion and relegation from the South Midlands League, it could be just the side who finish bottom being relegated into Division One.

I was told at our game lastnight that the the Premier Division will be going up to 24

Why oh why?!

Is there a shortage of games now then?

Personally I think it a farce that we are now into the last month of the season and teams do not know where they need to finish to gain promotion or relegation. It seems every year the non league pyramid do not agree on these matters until the last minute. Whatever happened to starting the season in August knowing exactly what will happen if you finish in the top two or bottom two/three........

The problem is exacerbated by ground issues, financial irregularities, clubs folding and this ridiculous FA reprieve rule that rewards failure over success.

If New Bradwell don't get relegated it will be a farce. Equally after Winslows promotion last year you can only assume Broxbourne are up from Div 2.

18. Season 2013-14

18.2. Risborough Rangers expressed their wish to be considered for promotion to Division 1, subject to the club finishing in a suitable promotion position. The club had placed a provisional order for the installation of floodlights in June.

There's no question Broxbourne will get promoted.

And if Winslow can go up after finishing 7th (?) then why can't Risbourough gain promotion if they finish in the top 7 this year and have the facilities in place? In my opinion, the league had set a benchmark by promoting a 7th placed side out of Div Two based on their facilities. If I was Risborough and finished in the top 7 this season and then didn't get granted promotion, I would take it as far as possible.

Not saying that I agree or disagree with a 7th placed side gaining promotion, but the precedence was set with that decison last season.

So taking that in to consideration and providing Risborough finish 7th or above, I can't see any reason why 2 up, 2 down from Div 1 & 2 should not happen this season.

You don't need floodlights in Division 1 anymore. Just rent a ground that does for midweek games and hey presto,

If both Cockfosters and London Lions go up there is no need to relegate anybody so Hatfield and Hanwell should be ok.

Your right Jonno bit of a pattern appearing 4 of the top 8 don't use their own facilities, but your team also have a advantage with all the midweek games you have at home because you can't use the pitch at the start of the season. This league is not a level playing field full stop. What is a ground share between 4-8k we spent nearlly 8k on our utility bills alone !

Hanwell????? I meant Holmer!! Slip of the tongue!!

We are 5th in the League so no chance of that this season.

I think only one team will end up going down this season from the Premier Division and i would like to see Cockfosters FC come up thats for sure.

I can think of one team (non SSML) that was promoted once, despite finishing NINTH in their league.
