Chris1
I trust this won't get me thrown off the forum, banned, deleted or otherwise censured. We aren't living in North Korea after all. Just for the record, I was at the Carshalton game and did not hear anything particularly offensive from the fans, so the apology from MFC is not needed in my case. I did hear a chant when the physio came on (a variation on the usual 'let him die' song), which was obviously meant to be funny, but overstepped the mark with its sexist message. If that was the 'abuse' referred to, then I have to say the complainant must be a very delicate flower, and perhaps should wear ear protectors at football matches. I am sure the physio has heard much worse. If I missed something else then it couldn't have been particularly prolonged or noticeable. Incidentally there was a good deal of swearing from the home bench in the form of encouraging their players, and indeed from both benches during a bit of banter in the second half. All in all nothing deserving of more than a talking to in my opinion. I hope everybody calms down, apologises where appropriate, and promises never to do it again, and that we can all get on with supporting our team. Coffin Ender
I left five minutes before the end so was ensconced in The Race Horse around the corner by the time all the excitement took place. So I have no idea what did or did not happen. However, I suspect the presence of the league chairman is entirely relevant to the club's reaction. BlueGate Alan
Spot on CE especially as I was told he was abused too. The club, quite rightly IMO, have done the right thing in this matter and if any of the three believe they were entirely innocent in this matter as other posters have indicated then I would suggest they contact the club explaining this. Broadstairs Dave
Assuming if what i hear from witnesses is true and no defence is offered then. If alcohol was involved then it begs the questions Who let them in if they were already the worse for wear ? Who supplied the alcohol once they were inside the ground ? BTW It is an offence to supply alcohol those who are intoxicated, licences can be revoked ! If no alcohol involved then I am speechless, cannot believe anyone sober would do that. My apologies on behalf of the silent fan majority to all those who have been offended, it is not our normal way and i recognise that Margate FC do supervise their home games to prevent this behaviour at home games , sorry everyone. Tesco Bazza
It sounds a wholely inapprioate way to behave. However I think the presence of the league chairman has not helped with the matter. Surely a public apology would good enough as these lads are margate fans one stupid drunken afternoon shouldn't stop them supporting the club. Just think we would have had 244 fans tue night! Gringo
Not there so i can only comment on hear say, the club had no choice but to act as it did. There seems some doubt if it was the said individuals! Being abusive in such a manner is unacceptable, more so when directed at a female. However i do not think the club should have named them until everyone had put there case forward. To the individuals that did act this way you have let the club down at a crucial time. Not to mention let down fellow suporters, if you cant handle the fizzy water dont drink it!
