All we want is a football ground in Slough

Looks like the council are getting involved in the comments section of the news story on this petition on the Slough Observer website. Really good to see them fighting our corner through this.

One quote included in it:

"Just wish to correct the erroneous idea that it is down to the council to find a site for a new school or that it is Slough's fault the school has a site in Stoke Poges.  The free school system means the school and DfE choose their site. The school is free from council control.  Slough has no issue with the school being in Slough; we have a problem with it being on the Arbour Park site and with the DfE demanding it at the last minute.  We have plans for the site which includes a football stadium as well as housing, improved sports facilities for another school, facilities for our award-winning dance academy, community sports facilities and homes.  We have not yet heard from the DfE following our letter in reply to them."

Not sure that it's the best thing that it's not down to the Council to find a site for a new school but down to the 'School and DfE to choose their site'.

Just signed it - Non league football needs teams like Slough playing on their own ground in the middle of their fan base. You were robbed of your ground so I hope you reach the number you need, any non league fan should support that. Get the local press to report it as a story, if you haven't already!

In June free schools can open pretty much where they choose without planning permission.

I'm sure Stoke Poges residents are aware of this and its pretty rich a Tory MP has got involved when its his governments removal of planning regulations and school free for all policies that have led to this situation.
