A Rebel and a Saint
Hi all. Some of you may remember that a couple of years ago my friend and I did a fundraising day at one of our home games for our Reading Half Marathon run which raised £1700 for Alzheimer's Research. Well after a couple more years of running, we have decided to finally step it up and run a marathon together. We both got PB times at this years Reading Half, including me breaking the two hour mark for the first time. We will be running the Edinburgh Marathon at the end of May to raise money for the MS Society. My Mum was diagnosed with MS a few years ago so this is a cause which is very close to my heart. We are looking to break the £2000 mark with this one as it is our first marathon out is our best chance to raise lots of money. Steve Easterbrook has been nice enough to let me fundraise at this Saturday's game against Godalming. I will be there with a bucket and a sponsor form, so whatever you can give would be very much appreciated. Two years ago the Slough fans were one of three most generous groups of donors. Thanks in advance for anything you can give. Dan
A Rebel and a Saint
Bump this back up. Please consider donating at the turnstiles today. If it helps I'm going for a 16 mile run in the rain tomorrow!
A Rebel and a Saint
Thanks to everyone who gave some money today. There was £70 in the bucket and a further £30 on the sponsor form. If anyone else wishes to sponsor us, the link is in the first post above. Remember this is our first marathon so it is our best chance to beat our previous fundraising amount. All the money raised means a lot to me and is very gratefully recieved due to my Mum (who is also the cousin of our Matchday Secretary Mark) having MS. Thanks again, and to anyone who wishes to donate in future.
A Rebel and a Saint
Going to bump this up again, as my run is on Sunday. I'm now running the marathon on my own as my running partner has pulled out injured. I am on over £1100 in sponsorship so far which is amazing but there is no reason to stop trying to raise more. Every pound and penny will help to push me on and benefit the MS Society. You can donate in a number of ways: http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/DanEllieEdinburgh2013 Or Text DABE87 plus an amount (£1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10) e.g. 'DABE87 £5' to 70070 Or you can leave a message on here or PM me. Please consider donating, this is probably the last time I will get to do a decent fundraiser for quite a while, and the challenge is even greater now I'm doing it alone. I will be trying to make this a social marathon by posting statuses and photos on Facebook and twitter (@RebelSaint87) as I run, and hoping to receive messages of support and donations throughout the run, which should take around 5 hours. Thanks.
A Rebel and a Saint
One last post on this. For those who did not see the updates, I finished the Edinburgh marathon in 4 hours 52 minutes, which was ahead of the time i projected for myself. It's not too late to donate, the fundraising pages keep going on and so must I while I take my well deserved rest. All the details are above.
