Millers
Just got back from a memorable weekend in Guernsey and must compliment everyone involved at their end for being so hospitable and making it something that will stay with us forever. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with friendly smiles and people that couldn't do enough to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we required. The game itself was obviously enjoyable from our perspective and played in the right spirit by both teams - no bad tackles or cross words in such a keenly fought contest speaks volumes. After playing 48 hours previously we were also suffering from fatigue and the loss of our experienced centre half Julian Sills and main hitman Jake Baxter (emergency a few hours before the flight) but we re-grouped, shifted things about a bit and were still able to go with a game plan that we were confident with. For the large part that game plan worked, although Guernsey had the better of possession we were able to restrict them to long shots and half chances, at the other end we were able to counter with threat. We were disappointed with the linesman/refs decision in the build up to the Guernsey goal but credit where its due in the fact they were big enough to admit they got it wrong later on. Credit must also go to Ross Allen as it was a superbly taken goal. After that we were on the ropes for about 10 minutes as the sense of injustice lead to indiscipline but we managed to recapture our thoughts again and of course broke for the winner. The last ten minutes was backs against the wall defending and taking the sting out of the game......my players where fantastic at achieving both! On the night I think we shaded the games in terms of chances made and the fellas fully deserve all the plaudits they get. They worked tremendously hard both on the night and all season, to come this far since October speaks volumes for them as individuals and as a team. One last thank you to the Guernsey fans who stayed and clapped us in after we had stayed out and celebrated on the pitch. The players, staff and fans of Guernsey were very gracious in defeat and that is something that wasn't lost on us and we very much appreciated it. All the best for the season and we look forward to the next time our paths cross. We are Cove
Flint700
Super post Millers, sadly could not watch the game as the Guernsey tv had gone down due to some neardoowells nicking some equipment. Happily it was up and running for todays game against Camberley, great win for yourselves and a good point for ourselves considering our current form, well done to all concerned
maisiecat
The kit was returned during the game last night and some of it was streamed. Cove, you were a great team and played well. Would also like to say that when there was booing at the end, it was for the ref who was not at all good, most certainly not directed at you. WorldWideWeb
What accomodation did you both stay at over the weekend? We (Farnham) were in The Yacht Inn, right in the middle of St Peters Port, for our Vase game which was a great place to be. But it looks like we are in St Margerets Lodge, St Martins, this time out. Just wondered if anyone had stayed there?

Millers
The fella Paul who owns it is a decent guy and wants to do everything for you. He'll run you into town (about 3 miles) in his mini-bus, sometimes he charges to do it - sometimes not. The accommodation is basic but clean - he'll keep the bar open til silly o'clock if you fancy a drink after your game!

Just wondered if anyone had stayed there? Egham stayed at st Margarets Lodge. At the end of runway. No way of getting into St Peter Port. Only a taxi and we were quoted £30 so thought better of it. The rooms are basic and I hear some were dodgy. But true the bar stayed open til 2am for us which was good. The main problem we had was nothing to eat unless we got that taxi into town. Eventually the nice fella running the bar gave in and gave us some chips. Breda lager was a nice brew tho !
jaygsy
I thought Guernsey FC normally booked visiting teams into either Les Rocquettes or The Yacht Inn, both resonable decent places.
WorldWideWeb
As far as I know (Correct me if I am wrong) Horley are staying at The Yacht Inn Friday and Saturday night so I presume it is due to a lack of available rooms with three visiting teams on the same weekend. Thanks for the heads up UK Sub, liquid dinner it is.
maisiecat
From St Margarets Lodge it's actually a short walk to a number of other places within a 15 min walk that do food for example http://www.wickedwolfgsy.co.uk/food-and-drink/the-wolf-menu/ A lack of rooms is a problem with so many teams over at once now. The 7a bus from the airport passes the Hotel going to town, the last one is 8.38 right outside the hotel on Fri/Sat night. That would mean you'd only need a cab one way back. http://www.hctgroup.org/ct_plus_guernsey/timetables_2

So no buses running. My tip if staying at st Margarets lodge is to take some snacks with ya just in case

After all they are getting a nice money-making little booking - and the chance of more - in the off season.

Well to be fair they did make pasta twirls with sauce for the team but as a fan I got nothing apart from the bowl of chips I pestered him into making. They then charged the team over £220 for the pasta. With no other option they creamed the money in.

Always the little ray of sunshine. And I've read that 1st sentence 5 times now but it still makes no sense. Why would I apologise for getting to a Cup Final? Nope, haven't the foggiest.
