I think Slough would have been promoted by now, if Byron Walton had been manager of Slough Town FC for the last four years. For the size and stature of the team, they have seriously under achieved in the last few seasons and been caught up by other clubs.

Chris Heron, Steve Sinclair?

I think some people have short memories.

Both left us because they had passed there sell by date. Both talented players but not willing or unable to knuckle down and make the most of their god given talent.

Both probably haven't kicked a ball in anger since they left us so can we please have no more talk about them coming back on some sort of rescue mission because it's not going to happen.

They both would be extremely useful impact subs to have, currently though,RR but I don't expect either of them would be willing to be just that.

Herron isn't a 90 minute player now and Sinclair gets frustrated over Bateman's tactics, that he employs for him and wouldn't want to play second fiddle to Jake Parsons.

Time to look elsewhere,me thinks.

Byron Walton? If he can't manage SYCOB, how is he going to manage Slough?

The point you raise is a good one,Older Ram but one swallow doesn't make a summer.

Whoever we get or if we stick with Bateman, some major changes are needed,if Slough really want promotion.

We don;t want Byron, we need someone with either proven managerial skills or at least a top playing career, that's why I suggested Terry Brown or Keith Scot-Bateman was an average non league player ( unlike his name sake Jeff Bateman ) and its turns out just an average manager. But he was at least better than Mr.Sweetman

Mark 44 Its pointless to hark back to the dim and distant past Its many years since a Bateman team won anything No point in looking back thats not the way any of us are going One of the teams you mention he won the playofffs with subsequently sacked him and he has been a four time loser in play-offs 3 with Slough I think his record is poor and not improving

Harsh on Steve Bateman, the footballer. He was no way average. He was an excellent defender. Played in a very good Chesham side before he ever came to Slough and was an asset in his first couple of seasons for us.

Admittedly,Jeff Bateman was an exceptional talent but both different types of centre-halves to compare.

There is no way Terry Brown will drop down to Slough's current level. Keith Scott is a better bet but that's up to our Chairman and the Committee to decide. I can't see Byron Walton being any better than Steve Bateman but who really knows.

Disagree about O'Toole.

I think he's had enough games now to be fit.

I think he gives the impression he's not fit because he doesn't run around a lot and chase players down and IMO tends to try to hog the ball instead of making the easy pass.

This is how O'Toole has always played.

Terry Brown or Steve Cordery for me as both will bring in players from a higher level. Keith Scott will spend a fortune on players that have only played this level or below. I also can't see the Chairman getting along with him. Admittedly he done well for Windsor for one season when they got promoted, but at what cost THE CLUB ITSELF. When in the combined counties he couldn't win that with almost the same players. Mick Woodham has done almost the same as Keith Scott done in the that league with a bunch of kids. As you can tell he's not for me.

I can't see how Terry Brown would be remotely interested in Slough,in the division we currently are at.

Steve Cordery is a good shout, though.

Understand your view on Keith Scott. He certainly seems to need money to accomplish his task at hand but did he have money when he got Leighton as champions of their division? I'm not sure on this.

Wonder if someone like Steve 'thommo' Thompson would be interested in having another crack at management, given that he 's only the coach at Woking.Team him up with someone like Steve Perkins or Dave Woozley, who knows this level of football and the players around.May be a great win double.

Or give Steve Bateman,a fifth and final season, unless promoted?!

Feel that is very harsh. He's been on a great run of form recently and scored some very good goals. His running at defences has at times caused them all sorts of problems.

Which was my point on him Marcus.

He has had opportunities and has been running at defences and scored a hatful of goals. At other times he seems frustrated when doing this and sometimes loses the ball.

I believe this is because he is still not 100%, remember he hadnt played for a few months and not regularly all season. When he is 100% will be even better :)

Ok mark- just read as being very negative "hog the ball"

On another note just remembered Burnell has a marathon coming up and I have a nasty feeling that's before the end of the season. Fair play to him it's for a great cause and wish him well but I guess that's him out for a couple of matches.

Pretty sure marathon is 21st. So can't see him playing in the NGU or Thatcham games and possibly the Rugby fixture on the Thursday before.
