Matt le Tissier signs for Guernsey

Gratz to chubby brown for getting the scoop first but it's been confirmed by Le Tiss himself on twitter that he has signed for Guernsey FC.

 

What does this mean? Is it just for the publicity or will he actually play in some of the CCL games?

It's been official for well over 24 hours.

 

General opinion is that Guernsey are bolstering their squad to cover the busy fixture list ahead. Injuries must be a worry for a promotion chasing club.

He was never that mobile as a pro, at 45 years old, I wonder what shape he is in these days? Hope he doesn't embarrass himself, its not the same as playing testimonials.

What he may now lack in speed will certainly be made up with his undoubted skill !

If the intention was to play him this season, he would have needed to be registered with the League by 5pm on 31st March. If he was, why has the news only just broken?

I would assume he will make an appearance in a team in the run in trio of games at the end of the season, this is something that GFC supporters would really appreciate! I think this would be awesome :-)

Agreed Maisie - particularly if GFC have already won the League by the time your final match takes place - what's the betting he gets the Sky Sports cameras along to share the party atmosphere with us all

First time in the squad will be the RPV game on the 14th.

No idea why this has happened. He came over for a legends game a few years ago and it was embarrassing watching him play there. He was given the run around by local Priaulx players, and not good ones at that.

 

It will either be hugely embarrassing or just a massive publicity stunt to get sky cameras down again.

He has recently got himself into much better shape as he and his wife are running the Guernsey half-marathon for Charity. Think he's lost around a stone in weight... Been out running lots.
