Ground Grading Inspections

Recommended Posts

So does anyone know the results then?

Specifically, I'd be interested does Oxhey's ground meet Step 4 requirements, and is Cockfosters suitable for Premier Division football?

I can see both not being good enough hope im wrong though as i would like both clubs to pass.

All premier division clubs were FA inspected last season. All passed the inspection has far as I know otherwise they were going to get relegated. You guys are talking about Div 1 and 2 I believe.

13. Ground Grading/Facilities

13.1. Mr Owen reiterated that the FA Ground Grading deadline of 31 March was fast approaching. On the basis of information supplied by clubs, almost all of the necessary work should have been completed by the deadline but there were still some clubs to be visited and all the work said to have been carried out had to be verified. The General Secretary had also instructed all clubs with ground sharing agreements to confirm their position for next season and provide the necessary documentation by 31 March.

With the Management Committee Meeting this evening we should get a further indication when the minutes are published within the next week or so.

I think Green Duck was more interested in knowing if grounds were graded highly enough for their clubs to achieve promotion to play in the next league up, not stay where they are. I have to doubt whether Oxhey meet Southern League requirements. Which would be a shame if they finish second.

We were at Oxhey on Tuesday. It is a three sided ground, no toilets on the actual ground, floodlights looked okj, not sure if they have enough seats. Neat ground though.

Neutral I'm suggesting you need floodlights at your own pitch thought that was quite clear. Its not a tirade, it's about a even chance for every team in the league, there are standards even at the lowest of low as you put it.Nobody is FORCED to ground share if your facilities don't match the standard of football you want to play then improve them,we for instance have spent a fortune last year doing the work that the league wanted us to do but still we have to go to clubs who are taking the p1ss, next week for example because we are playing against a team who have no lights we have to play on a thursday 2 days before another game because the ground they borrow have let someone else play there on the wednesday no fault of our own yet we have 2 games in 2 days.it's pretty simple really if you havent the BASIC facilities then stay in the lower division until you can.History is not a argument ask many teams who have dropped down leagues or been relegated because the facilities were not sorted northwich come to mind, there will always be another club or set of people willing to replace and build their own history.

There are requirements as laid out in the FA ground grading manual , but this league of ours do not insist every club complies , there are at least 6 clubs in the premier division that fail on more than 1 thing, and some on much more , Hatfield, london tigers , holmer green are nowhere near complying , and cockfosters were relagated because of ground grading issues and i dont think to much has changed, the ground sharing issues are not dealt with consistently, lease details are not properly checked and when problems arise it causes problems to clubs who maintain and carry all the expense of having your own ground..

The step 5 inspections this season were carried out by FA inspectors. Any club which didn't get the required work done by 31st March is in danger of being relegated.

Colney Heath had to take down 14 trees behind the far goal so a fence could be put up.

We have the facilities although people will argue against our "open side". There are however, sogns and chains up across areas stating that no spectators are permitted beyond that point. This ensures out ground is of sufficient quality I believe.

Believe me, it could be worse. You could be in the Hellenic League for example where the ground grading is so sketchy. Ardley United for example play on a open field with hard standing on one side and barriers all around, although it does have lights. Shrivenham, again no hard standing all the way round but Hellenic Premier standard. It surprises me, it really does.

One for the ground graders. A club in Norway came back for preseason to find the local council had built a road through their pitch !
