Ground Grading Inspections

Recommended Posts

I know the deadline for grounds to meet the grading requirements for each division was 31st March, I assume inspections have taken place or are taking pace this week.

Does anyone know when the results will be made public?

It doesn't matter the league do what they want they allow teams years to put their house in order. We waisted 2500 at the start of the season putting toilets in both dressing rooms. Some teams don't even have a ground and use other clubs, and then use money to pay players ! same old same old.

Pains me to say it but you're spot on Lee.

Some teams don't even have toilets in there changing rooms or even in a seperate room next to changing rooms and have to use clubhouse facility etc, should of put a portaloo outside for away teams make it as horrible for them as possible, make those cold midweek nights even worse for them!!

What would you propose?

You can't blame the clubs - they don't sanction the rules. If they have both cricket and football teams to cater for then good on them.

This issue would lay with the league and it's down to them to manage it. In my opinion, if clubs can't fulfill fixture dates at the start of the season because of clashes with cricket, then the South Midlands Committee should kindly ask them to play their football in another league... But obviously the League would never do this because they would end up potentially losing sides with decent set ups and good history - and then having to accept other teams into the league with basic facilities to compensate their loss.

What ever way you look at it, as Lee points out, those teams that can't play at home because of cricket during the start of the season have a notable advantage from the knock on effect of the fixtures.

The bottom line is that it's not fair towards all clubs.

Does anyone really think that having no home games in August has that much impact? In most seasons this will be 4 league games, due to FA and county cups.

in Hoddesdon's case is they were able to play their FA Cup game at home, so it appears it depends on the competition whether they can play at home or not.

Hoddesdon usually use Hertford as there home ground in early fa cup ties in the past not so sure more recently, think st mags don't play home games early on either due to cricket and that's a prem team!! Sometimes it can have an impact as hoddy or whoever get away games early doors whilst pitches are still in a decent condition for example playing harpenden in august away is a touch because you get them away in December/january and u will be playing in a mud bath from my past experiences

For the record

HODDESDON TOWN 1 BERKHAMSTED 1

Berko got over the shock of conceding a first minute goal and came back well to earn a replay in Saturday’s FA Cup with Budweiser tie. Hoddesdon named the same 11 that knocked Tring out of the Herts. Charity Shield last week. Berko’s reshaped defence had not had time to settle when home skipper Gary Simmonds ran down the middle and lobbed the advancing Carl Tasker to open the scoring in a match played in the baking sun at Waltham Abbey’s ground. Almost immediately Lawrence Bunker put the ball in the net from a Connor Calcutt cross, but it did not count and may have been offside, so the play resumed with a free kick to Berko for a foul in the build up.

LB what the hell do you suggest? kick them out of the league? loose two teams with an established det up and plenty of history?

, it's not as if pitxh is being used for bad means, its giving local people the opportunity to play sport for goodness sake!!

As for your tirade on ground sharing, this is step 6 football remember, almost the lowest of non-league- not the premiership!! there is little money in non-league, but lots of passion-thus clubs just about clinging on, and forced to ground share!!

So does anyone know the results then?

Specifically, I'd be interested does Oxhey's ground meet Step 4 requirements, and is Cockfosters suitable for Premier Division football?
