Eton Manor 1 Enfield Town 4

Recommended Posts

We came we saw we conquered!

If you missed it you missed an absolute stonker!

After just 3 minutes Eton manor went 1 – 0 up thanks to a goal from Knapman. Shock horror!

For the next 20 minutes Manor went for it big time and were all over the town with some fine saves and defending by the defence.

Suddenly the ball was up the other end and after a nice flick on by Graeme Hall Bradley Brotherton scored his trademark header. 1 – 1. So the goalie wasn’t as invincible as the Manor would have us believe!

Town attacked again just before the break from within the box and Ian Cooper curled one passed the keeper. It’s best I don’t repeat what his dads comment but like the rest of us he was very pleased. 1- 2

After half-time Manor came out again and attacked but their attack failed to finish it.

Town kept getting caught off side, before Bradley score another lovely header 1 – 3

David Allen forced a great save from the keeper.

Peter kept waving the town players forward and the fourth came from a lovely strike from Ian Cooper from the edge of the box and the keeper didn’t really have a chance.

Enjoyable match? You bet!

Well deserved win for the Town. we simply did not put away our chances, and in this game as you all know you get punished for that!

Cleggy, sorry mate, thought you were gonna make yourself known, met Mr Happy and his little one. May get a chance to meet up in one of the cup rounds.

Well done boys, good support from the Town fans as expected.

Manor looked well organised and fired up for the game...I think their tactics were to ruffle a few feathers early on,which the ref seemed more than happy to let them do.....Against lesser sides those tactics would have worked well, but Town just had that extra bit of quality that you need in those situations.

Concidering we had our three first choice midfielders unavailable (Ridout,Quinn,Geraghty), i thought we performed well.

Cooper seems to get better every game.

I was suprised to see Ulatoswki come straight back in ahead of Cove.

Finally what was that linesman on today....We had him both halves...and he must have wrongly flagged for off-side on at least 7 or 8 occasions when we were clean through, then failed to see a blatent off-side for our third goal..priceless.

Also,if our mate D'urso was reffing the match,Manor's No 11 would have been sent off within the first 5 minutes. <img src="/images/graemlins/affig.gif" alt="" />

A very impressive performance from the boys yesterday - special mention again for Brad Brotherton, Ian Cooper and Lee Smith but everybody played their part. Adam Gant's goal-line save was heroic.

Eton Manor seem like a nice club so I was a lttle surprised by their tactics - thought they would have been better off concentrating on their own football (which looked good when they tried to play) rather than concentrating on 'spoiler' tactics.

Should be an interesting game against Romford next week after they did us a favour against Basildon yesterday.

I shared your surprise intially regarding Peter getting the choice over Billy Cove but I think it is more an injury Billy is recovering from. Having said that I think Peter has played better alongside the class of Coops, Smith and Cove. They bring out the best in him. It must have been so hard playing week in week out for Brimo as a lone strike hoping a ball come to you eventually.

Agreed about the lino but he knew he'd messed up all those other times and maybe the third goal was a bit of justice in our favour if there is such a thing!
