Eastside Urchin
Obviously we haven't had a reserve side for a couple of years, and lets face it,it doesn't look like we really have any youth teams,or at least we don't hear anything of them etc. With the struggle for players for the Cup Final,is it not time to at least look at a Youth team/Reserves,maybe a mixture of both to play in a Saturday league like other clubs have. I don't believe for one minute that not having reserves and youth football is bad for the club.Billericay apparently received around £15'000 for their involvement in youth football while we obviously received nothing!!! Had we a youth team/reserves who were signed for the club,we could handpick those needed for the final and also use it for players fitness etc
Lord Upminster
All very valid points you have made EU. What is the stance from the club for not having a youth setup? Could it not also bode well for getting involved with the local community and secondary schools?
Eastside Urchin
I think to be fair to the club, they have had other things on their mind the last couple of years so its probably not high on their list at the moment but should we stay in this league, and we are now settled more as a club,I feel it should be at least looked into.If only to give us some back up if things went wrong. If we had a problem with Joe Woolley for instance, who is our reserve keeper,do we have one? We can't bring anyone in,surely if we have one then it would be better for him to play a few games in a reserve side
YELLOW
If you play in a Saturday league then it guarantees you'll have a home match at Bridge Avenue most Saturdays putting some revenue into the club.
Eastside Urchin
Indeed,I would watch most games as long as I wasn't working.
Seaney The Sheep
would the club consider in merging with a local youth club like the one i coach for Essex Minors Hornchurch.
Lord Upminster
Havering sixth form college just down the road at Wingletye Lane I believe run three football teams that compete in leagues,
Eastside Urchin
We do or did have under 18s & Under 16s but I haven't heard a thing since one of the teams got knocked out the FA Youth Cup,hammered by Brentwood Town. I believe these sides came originally from a local youth club like EMH. The team that lost were very poor IMO and simply not up to the standard but there was another team that was supposed to be better but I have not heard a thing about them since.Have no idea where or when they play, they simply use our name and that's it,as far as I am aware. Its a shame as everyone plays youth football to get to play senior football. andydick
As Seaney said we have 2 youth sides, U17 and U18 both playing in the Eastern Junior Alliance. My cousin's boy plays for Clapton FC in the same U18's league. Our U17 and U18 are managed by Alan Pearce (pretty sure he manages both) and I met with him late Jan re getting some exposure on the website .. hence why I created the Youth section on the site along with the U17s and U18s pages. Said at the time I was happy to put all the youth info on the site (profiles, fixtures, links, match reports etc etc) but just haven't been sent anything since then which is a shame. I'm sure I can cobble something together for the site but it'd be better if we had some info coming directly out of the U17 & U18 set up.
Eastside Urchin
I think it would also be better if they played less than 12 miles away so some of us couldn't be watch them

cup of tea
I wonder if any of the players from the U18's would be good enough to help to make the numbers up in the cup final then? Great opportunity for someone.
