Hampton & Richmond v Enfield Town

I see Hampton & Richmond have sacked their manager:

Mark Harper has resigned as manager of Hampton & Richmond Borough.

The under-pressure boss quit after his side’s 3-0 defeat on Easter Monday to the Ryman Premier Division’s bottom club Carshalton Athletic.

Hampton have won only four of 25 league games since early November, a run of form which has seen them tumble from the top of the league to 14th.

Harper’s position had come under scrutiny around the turn of the year, when the club’s board issued a statement demanding ‘an immediate improvement’ in performances and results.

They thrashed Bognor 5-0 last month but the defeat to relegation-threatened Carshalton – who also beat Hampton on Boxing Day – has seen the end of Harper’s tenure.

A club statement read: “We would like to thank Mark for all his hard work over the last five years in various roles within the club.”

Not sure if this is a good or a bad thing for us. Talk on Kingstonian forum of both K's and H&R trimming their budgets after failing to get promoted this season. H&R let their top scorer Charlie Moone go to Borehamwood last week. Also talk disquiet in the H&R dressing room (no surprise considering their poor run), so will we see them up their game for Thursday?

Pitch is seemingly in a bad state as well. No surprises again.

Same desire the players have shown to win tackles and headers and stay switched on should see us get at least a point (draw currently at 13/5). Town outsiders for the win at 2/1.

just a couple of seasons ago H and R were only 2 points away from automatic promotion to the conference. they lost out in play offs same year as AFC Wimbledon went up. There were over 2,000 at the Beaveree for the game between the two (including me). With the snow as well, I doubt the crowd will top 100 tonight. We've played there a few times before, including the game against North greenford. Nice ground.

See you later, assuming the game isnt snowed off

Another example of a club overstretching itself. But 2,000 people through the front gate would be wonderful at Donkey Lane.

Given that Hampton and Richmond missed out on promotion by two points, and that they were playing AFC Wimbledon, then most people would assume that there would be a large crowd wanting to watch a possible title decider. I am sure we would have a large crowd if we were in the same situation.

I think I mentioned this before somewhere: could someone please tell me what's the point of David Laird? He's obviously out of shape and I've not seen anything to suggest he's some sort of Messi with the ball at his feet.

Mind you, pretty much everyone was disappointing yesterday. Hunt was alright in the first half but disappeared. Imber made some good saves, but should've stopped the first one. Mark Henry ought to go and our full-backs are awful. Even Wallace didn't look like his old self, has he got slower?

Well, that's my spleen vented, on the upside they have a lovely ground. Did anyone see that 14 year old enjoying a couple of pints at the bar?

I think we certainly missed Lee White last night. McKay looked 'rusty' to say the least. Not sure why Lee Allen wasnt playing? Tyler Campbell seems to have gone quiet of late also?

At the end of the day though folks, we are 15th and unfortunately because of this, we are likely to have good days and bad days at the office. If we were more consistent in our performances, it goes without saying we would be challenging higher up the table. The good thing is we are consistent enough to be relatively comfortable from the drop now.
