v Burnham

Recommended Posts

Today's game is massive and could define our season as far as any hopes of winning the league goes.

Win and it's game on, lose and it's the play-offs.

Burnham have surged to the top of the league and are on a 15 game unbeaten league run since we beat them back in December.

This should be one feisty encounter with Burnham getting in our faces and trying to rattle us from the off so our players need to keep their cool and concentrate on their football and not get caught up in any retalliation, we need 11 players to stay on the pitch.

Big Easter crowd expected and should be a cracker.

Unfortunately for us Burnham are a good all round side, and probably wont miss Bird too much even though he is a quality player. Although we beat them at home I still thought they were an impressive side and are well worth their top spot.

When we were all making our predictions at the start of the season I don't remember anyone tipping Burnham so full credit to Martin Stone.

It is always very physical against Burnham so if we are looking for all 3 points we need tro make sure we keep all our players on the pitch for the full 90 minutes.

Burnham 1 (Driver) Slough 0 - FT

Rugby 3 Aylesbury 0 - FT

Royston 3 Biggleswade 1 - FT

Guildford 1 Godalming 1 - FT

Incredibly disappointing, we didn't have a single shot on target I don't think, but no point in moaning about it, onwards and upwards, just need to make sure we make the play offs now!

SYCOB played Chalfont but no idea what the result was yet!

I agree it's between 4 clubs for 2 of the play off places and between 3 clubs for league title now. Very very disappointing, I could go into one but I cannot be bothered, with the squad we have we shouldn't be out of the title race and I mean that!

I guess that's it then ( wonder if I will ever get my £100 ).What you saw today was a team who had no idea or in some cases no heart considering the game was meant to be all about promotion.

Not sure if your talking about Slough or Burnham?

In a scrappy game both teams struggled to come to terms with the conditions.

Apart from Burnham's goal, which was poor defending when Driver wriggled his way past four poor challenges, neither keeper had a save to make and a draw would have been a fair result.

Northwood and Royston on Saturday are looking bigger than ever and must win games after today's results.

so disappointed as the win was there for the taking. very few chances the only goal coming from Lewis Driver stumbling his way past 3 or 4 tackles before squeezing a shot home. was the only shot on target by either side as far as i can remember

like normal we let a shockingly inconsistent ref get to us and it hampered our play. we twice nearly scrambled an equaliser but never really built much pressure despite Burnham looking shaky at the back when we kept the ball down and ran at them

Burnham did nothing flash and showed how simple it can be to win big tight games and i guess that's why they look to be massive contenders for the title

playoffs is far from a gimme for us so we gotta get over this quick and go again Wednesday

I may be unpopular for saying this, and I hate to sound like hotspur, but today showed why I don't think we'll go up this season; we aren't good enough.

We could still be playing now and we wouldn't have scored, as we spent almost the entire game hoofing the ball upto Danny Burnell, who was up against 2 big central defenders. We were crying out for some pace down the wing and for somebody who can beat defenders and then cut the ball back. But today, all we did was hoof. This played right into Burnham's hands!

Burnham are a very Route 1 side who on the day weren't that good, but it was Burnham who produced the bit of quality needed to win games like these. It certainly wasn't coming from us I'm afraid to say.

I'm saying this because I feel that we're making the same mistakes that have cost us the last 3 years : we're dropping too many points because we're far too clueless, far to often.

Have to agree Nathan. If Burnham gain promotion and we do not this season it'll be a right kick in the teeth and the question will have to be asked and answered as to how this has happened with the amount of money that has been pumped into the playing squad over the past 4 seasons. I have to take my hat off to Martin Stone I really really do!

Hughly disappointing With 10 games left we have already lost as many games as in the whole of last season and only need to concede 4 more to have conceded more with the much improved budget and the allegedly better new players this is really worrying

Agree with that Cookham.

How Burnham can come out of nothing and build a (possibly) title-winning side on seeming next-to-no budget, and we can't despite our (supposedly) superior resourced and money from the FA Cup run, is a mystery!

(It's also not totally outside the realm of possibility that SYCOB could go up via the play-offs! (Potentially) being in in a lower league than Burnham and SYCOB should be a real eye-opener
