Maidstone Reserves 2 v 2 Margate Reserves

This was my first visit to the new maidstone stadium. "Nice" tucked away, great transport links to the Motorway. The pitch looked great, ball ran true though, the bounce did catch the lads out a little during the game.

It was nice to see "Mr Laid back " himself, "Charlie Mitten" in the opponent's goal.

Gate went ahead against a very well drilled maidstone team, slightly against the run of play, The Maidstone defence on the whole was solid and cut out most of our play before we got into the box. At the same time they forced a fantastic Full length, flying save from "Josh Matlass" which was heading for the top corner before being safely caught and held by the said keeper.

Just before half time they equalised(good goal). Margate Kicked off, took the ball down into the Maidstone box, Penalty. Up stepped Ashton Smith, 2-1 to Margate.

2nd 1/2. the "Stones"equalised and what followed was a good game with both sides having chances. "JM" in the "Gate"

goal was kept the busier with a number of excellent saves. The margate side though played with maturity, marshaling the "Stones" attempts to get forward very well.

Before the game i would have been ecstatic with a draw, but after it was perhaps 2 points dropped that were in our grasp.

M-O-M. Josh Matless.

Roll on Lordswood on Monday at Hartsdown Park. 3-00pm KO.
