dflman
First real shot on goal was TW's on 45 mins for our first goal. We should have had a penalty prior to that as it was not ball to hand because their number 5 touched it before he handled it. TW missed a sitter. Second half they equalised but we got the upper hand in the end with two well taken goals both from decent football moves. Thurrock not a bad side who tried to play a good game and clearly need a decent striker. Onwards and upwards at Cray on Monday
Cookie
Yes awful wasn't it? Like you say we only got to grips with things from half way through the second half. Good saves from Holloway,a cracking goal from Whitnell and two well taken goals by Kezie. Poor defending on our part for 3/4 of the game and generally I thought we weren't that interested,or so it seemed. Anyways knucked down to the job in the end and beat a spirited Thurrock side, who, again as you say, need a striker who can be more precise with the finishing aspect of the game..Had they had one of those players we would have been in deep ****! Anyways a "Good Friday", result-wise, after all and a bonus of knowing that Canvey dropped 3 points.
P.W.
Any news anyone on the two first half injuries - Joe Vines & the returning Jermaine Brown? Both good signings by Craig will be missed in the run-in, so I hope they just came off as a precautionary measure and will be available for important upcoming games. margateshot
I heard Jermaine is out for a week, don't know about Joe
michael
simply grinding out the wins is all that matters now-and reads like we did that today-so good all round. This injury situation seems worrying though-no Corneille today despite being available mid week, and now injuries to Vines and Brown. Not great is it with those additional injuries-so just to get the three points is really good imo. Can we keep it going though with all these injuries. A bit surprised Starkey did not start-who started at right back ? Well done all round. Up the 'Gate
Coffin Ender
Yet again an example of how playing 'good football' gets you nowhere at this level. It's all about what you do in the boxes, not midfield. We scored three high quality goals whereas Thurrock were either ineffectual up front or were denied by CH. Prodigal son
Gotta disagree about Burns, all I saw him do was back off. The one tackle he did make was badly timed and gave them a freekick.
michael
According to the managers post match interview now available-right back is his 'natural' position
dflman
It was playing good football that got us our goals - the hoofing part of yesterday just gave it to the opposition. It's the defending that requires attention surely
Coffin Ender
First half - Margate played hoofball, Thurrock dominated possession. Margate won 1-0. Second half - pretty even in terms of style and possession. Margate won 2-1. It makes no difference.
margateshot
Just to say that there was another good bunch of away fans there yesterday. Never stopped singing all through the match even when 3-1 down. I hope they stay up just for their enthusiasm
