Hookey
Remarkably I made my first visit to the Bridge last night to watch Basildon Ladies beat Colchester Utd 1-0. Nice elevated clubhouse and the pitch looked in great shape. Hope to go back here again soon to see the Urchins play as I haven't seen them since I saw them at Bowers in the ESL a few years back. Eastside Urchin
I always wonder why these games aren't promoted on here or the website. Surely if 5 of our fans turn up,use the bar if open or food facilities then our club makes money. Every penny should count, not just big money, that's how a business makes money and a football club is a business nowadays
Lord Upminster
Poor PR and commercial business sense. A wasted opportunity a club of our stature can ill afford to miss. Was it a good game? What is the standard of football at this level?
Hookey
Yeah it was a good game LU. Colchester were the more skilful and had most of the possession, but Basildon matched them every step of the way for workrate. Basildon's two Centre Backs and Keeper were fantastic and kept out everything Colchester threw at them, then scored with an excellent break away goal when Charlie Dolby lobbed Colchester's keeper from about 25 yards. Considering Colchester Utd are two divisions above Basildon in the Ladies pyramid and had beaten West Ham in the semi's this was somewhat a giant-killing. BTW, Basildon are coached by Steve Tilson and it shows. This was a game to win over any sceptics about women's football.
