Cookham Rebel
Add Paul Edgeworth, and maybe Michael Chennels to that list as well!
SG24
Add Paul Edgeworth, and maybe Michael Chennels to that list as well! Is that wishful thinking - or has Edge done the same as last season, signed dual forms to help you out towards the end of the season?
Rebel Kay
Herron's registration was completed today.
Nathan
Whilst I'm pleased that Sonner and Abbey have signed forms with us, I can't help but feel that we're constantly looking to the past and not looking forward... we seem to be signing Paul Edgeworth and Chris Herron every season! Mark44
Going to have to disagree on this one Nathan In previous seasons I would have said yes your right but with the amount of games we have to play in a short space of time we are more likely to get injuries etc due to fatigue. We therefore need backup in place and only certain players would be willing to sign for that purpose. So my view is to have them as opposed to having no one

We need cover for the amount of games that need to be played. I applaud Steve Bateman's good management for being able to call on our ex players, all of whom can do a decent job. While I wouldn't think Chris Herron will be match fit, given his knee injury problems, I do,however, think he would be extremely useful on the left wing,as an impact substitute for say the last 15-20 mins. Like Jake Parsons,he can go past a player with trickery and skill, and create a goal scoring opportunity.Unlike any of our current players,we play on the left. This may seem like a silly question, but why exactly did we introduce a Reserve team this year? Why do we even have a youth team? These things are bound to be costing us money and I can't see any benefit ATM, as players from neither team seem to be able to get a look in at all! Mark44
Can only agree Nathan. I can see why we have signed on the players but you are right in saying we shouldn't need to as the reserves should be more integrated
readingrebel
The reserves and youth set ups, I would imagine, are long term projects and one can only assume that there is no one ready to step up to the first team. Simples.
A Rebel and a Saint
The more important question is where were these players when we needed them today, seeing as we had Rhone and Warro on the bench who were both injured.
Nathan
Fair enough, but personally I would use it to keep fringe first-team players match-fit. I have no idea if this is being done or not as I don't go to reserve games. There have however been 2 products from the youth team in recent years who were certainly under-utilized during their time here; Ho Sharif and Tony Mendy. Mendy is now scoring goals on a fairly regular basis at this level, whereas Mo Sharif is now playing in League Two.

epicrebel
Mendy was asked on a few occasions to play first team ( and didn't even bother to turn up ) and mo did play and qpr came in and grabbed him as he was not signed on.
readingrebel
I think the whole idea of a reserve set was not to give first team players games to get fit etc but to bring players through from the youth and from lower levels.
