Berks & Bucks Senior Trophy

Recommended Posts

Congratulations AUFC, shame it has taken a prestigious final appearance away from from the players after all their hard work . At least after last night you still get to play in another final.

The above match was played on Wednesday 6th March 2013, with Flackwell Heath winning 3-2.

Following the match it came to light that both clubs had possibly played ineligible players in the match. Each club were asked for their observations.

Following the receipt of the requested letters from both clubs, both admitting that they had infringed Cup Rule 8B(ii), a meeting of the Berks & Bucks FA Cup Competitions Emergency Committee was convened.

The Committee decided that both clubs had infringed Rule 8B(ii) on their own admission; and were both fined £100. It was further decided the Windsor FC and Flackwell Heath FC be removed from the Senior Trophy Competition for season 2012/2013.This decision is final and binding..

With no opponents for the Senior Trophy Final, Aylesbury United FC will be awarded the Senior Trophy for season 2012/2013 at a date to be arranged.

  • 4 weeks later...

We have now been disqualified from the competition, thus have returned Trophy due to apparently playing an ineligible player!

You really couldn't make it up - 3 of 4 semi finalists disqualified!

So will the remaining non disqualified semi finalist be presented with the trophy?

How come its taken the Berks and Bucks FA this long to discover the irregularities, both semi-finals were played in the first week of March

what player? How? Why?

Daniel Jones played in the FA Trophy as part of a 7-match stint with Aylesbury FC earlier this season before he rejoined us

I've read your statement on your website with the mitigating circumstances. To blame not knowing the rules seems a rubbish excuse, someone at the clubs should know the rules and tell the manager

the fact it's caught 75% of semi-finalists tells you something.

The fact the semi-finals were played in the first week of March tells you another- clearly the FA don't have a grip on the situation.

Furthermore, the FA trophy is a completely different competion and was at the very begining of the season.

It'll make winning the prem cup a bit more sweet!

You mean the County FA.

This is typical of county FA's, a team gets found out for fielding an ineligible player. Someone then looks into it and grasses up another team and the whole cycle starts again. Rarely do the county FA's discover this for themselves.

B&B do have some strange rules though. Pretty sure if you have played in the FA Cup on Saturdays you are ineligible for the Sunday junior cups.
