Rother
Lovely stuff Geggy! Not that it makes any difference to me but are there going to be any other attractions this time, like Face Painting, Hog Roast and such like? Another food "outlet" would be welcomed I'm sure if we get near to the 800 achieved at last Free Entry game!
duncs
My god how wealthy must you lot be,it is mind blowing to think that you can pass up what most clubs in this league would die for, even if you only charged a fiver you would still take about 4grand on the gate, here lies the difference in the CCL most clubs have feck all and some are filthy rich, hopefully in the future the FA will get off its backside and do something about it and create a level playing field
Windsor_Sec
Filthy rich Duncs, far from it mate as I've just used my last rolled up £50 note to light my imported Havana cigar. LOL. It's a charity day for fecks sake, let them in free and they'll donate more to the charity buckets and we'll still make enough on the bar and food outlets ! Interested in your estimates though which would mean 800 people at a fiver, how do you reach that figure when no other club has got anywhere near that yet this season ? Do you really think loads of Guernsey fans will make the journey on a Bank Holiday two days after a trip to the North East or are you assuming they're all filthy rich as well ? duncs
well if it is for charity why not give them half of the takings that will give them 2k and your club 2k and 800 was your mate Rothers estimate not mine.
Guernsey Wag
Windsor_Sec, there are a few of us doing both but we are def not filthy rich : ) In fact following GFC is making us skint!! Thanks for the free admission, very much appreciated. I am sure your charity ( and the bar) will do well . See you at the game

Levelling the playing field? Are you a freakin' communist? 800 wasn't my estimate for this game, just the number we had for the last Free Entry game. Probably very optimistic to hope to match that but I would assume we'd be hoping for circa 600. A bit of warm sunshine would help boost the numbers, but that seems unlikely. Chris Clapham
Duncs. It doesn't bother me one iota if some clubs are rich and some "worse off". (Poor is a word I use for the on field offering of teams). Football (and life) has always been the same hasn't it? Give Windsor some credit for doing something worthy and putting their club further on the map. They will do well re food, ale and programmes after all. Money helps in gaining success but guarantees nothing. (Too many mercenary players out there IMHO). I'm not sure Windsor are that wealthy anyway. Rother
As it happens, I suspect most of the addit income from gate receipts (compared to others) is being spent on the pitch.

mal316
Gutted the Chelsea v Man Utd FA Cup q/f has been arranged for the same time as this match.. That's alright Sparksy, the match will be shown live in the club house, so you can still come down, show your support by donating to the Alexander Devine charity, have some good food & drink and, if you positoin yourself right you can watch both games. Smudge
Why not alter the kick off time, back or forward.Just a suggestion.
HKP
Not sure the FA will do that for the Chelsea match.. mind you both sets of supporters are mostly based in London so shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Windsor_Sec
quote - duncs - well if it is for charity why not give them half of the takings that will give them 2k and your club 2k and 800 was your mate Rothers estimate not mine. quote Duncs, I appreciate what you're saying about splitting the takings but the simple fact is there will be [hopefully] a large number of people who will turn up because it's FREE ! As well as supporting our charity partner it's also an ideal opportunity to try and gain new support from within the town which probably wouldn't happen if they had to pay. This way though they've at least found out who we are and where we are and it hasn't cost them much so hopefully will enjoy the day and return again as paying customers in the future. Rother
Only guessing all numbers but just to illustrate how the point above might pan out.... Estimate of gate if paying - 340. Average might be £3 per head (after concessions and kids). Plus average spend on food and drink £3 per head, which might give a profit of 66% = £2 per head. Therefore a total "profit" per head on the day would be £5 which on a gate of 340 would mean income would be £1700. Alternative.... Estimate of gate if Free Entry - 680. (Last time it was 802.) Average spend on food and drink £5 per head, which might give a profit of 66% = £3.33 per head. Therefore a total "profit" per head on the day would be £3.33 which on a gate of 680 would mean income would be £2267. Plus we get a decent number of people along who might decide to come along again in the future....
duncs
Are you a double act if you are you don't convince me,the gate money is a definite the other theories are just supposition, lets say they all spend 2pound then your takings are well down, but hey you are an accountant and I am just a builder so you will have a better knowledge on this sort of thing,I just hope the charity gets something.
