Sat v Concord

We have a habit at Town that when things go bad, even at the extent of mis placing a pass, fans frustrations are loudly aired across the pitch. This does not help the player or team from whom we are expecting so much from. Thats my opinion.

Secondly yesterday was awful, the pitch (although it was just playable), the style of opposition, the weather, the referee and our performance, although the first 20 we were competitive and should have had a penalty when at 0-0, who knows how the game would have gone after it was given.

Andy-We are not lucky teams below can not buy a win (although that would lead into the law courts if they could or if they tried) but the facts are that although one off day at Carshalton we have not lost to any of them and in fact beaten the vast majority of them home and away, as we have beaten Met Police, Canvey Island to mention 2 others, so we are where we are on merit and it should be applauded, as our pre seaason aim is consolidation nothing more nothing less and within our budget.

Yes we must not be complacent and performances like yesterday must be eradicated asap as sympathy will be limited to our players if it does'nt hurt the player coming off the pitch in a defeat in this manner.

Steve's doing a good job and Jason's not shy in talking to the players in the same manner he express's his opinions to match officials, so they will be told.

We have 2 more very difficult matches coming up at Kingstonian and Bury, we expect nothing but the difference is we go their giving everything for 6 points, not like yesterday.

I don't often agree with you EU but your post summed up the game reasonably well. However there has to be some comment on the management. We have tried Adam in the middle of the attack earlier in the season and it doesn't work. With the passage of time has not made it work better. When Hope came on we won one or two headers and we hadn't won a single header before he entered the arena.

I like Matata he is full of energy and gives 100% every time and he has a sense of humour but ..............

The only midfielder who put in any effort yesterday was Bardle however ..............

I actually believe that Hammatt offers us more when he is in the middle but he is not the fan's favourite but I think that is due to his age rather than his ability.

Jey was off form yesterday, the conditions clearly affected him more than any one else. Kendall was shown up for lack of pace but I believe that Kirby, though he could share some blame for the first goal, and White held the defence together until they tired towards the end.

An earlier post said not one shot on goal. I thought that there was one. In the second half Tyler set off a rocket which, unfortunately was blocked, it is likely that it would have bought out the best in the goalie, missed or scored but it was a shot and the player that it hit knew about it. As for the handball incident there was another one in the second half at the same end so it evened itself out.

Anyway after yesterday's performance I have decided on my vote for player of the year and despite my comment on Kirby and White it is neither of them.

As are those of Jason Dale, rather more loudly and 'colourfully'. Does he help the team when he does that?

Err,

and Hastings and several 2 - 0 leads which were lost 2 - 3 !

Hopefully, we will stay around the 15th position, which will be "job done" and our first season at this level achieved.

That does not take away performances like yesterday.

Going down 0 - 3 away to 2nd in the League is by no means a disaster, far from it, particularly in our first season in the Prem, however the way we lost was very very poor.

Lack of desire and lack of attitude.

They won 99% of any 50/50 ball. They looked fitter. They had played Tuesday and Thursday, etc etc. They have better players or team spirit. Being 2nd in the League obviously helps.

In my opinion we still need 6 points to secure our place for next season - there needs to be a big improvement if we are to achieve that goal.

We cannot just rely on others poor results.

EU. Consolidation is one thing. Being able to stay in this league playing that type of football is another. Forget the pitch. It was playable for both sides. Forget the performance of the referee. He was consistent for both sides. Forget the 'handball'. There was one in the second half for Concord which was more of a penalty than our shout.

Yesterday was the third game in five days for Concord yet they showed more spirit, attitude and commitment than we did. Some of our players seemed to treat it as an end of season 'nothing to play for game'.

Let's hope something changes within the next few games to bring back some pride into the performances.

well guys lets put things into perspective,

Tom S-Referring to Jason, i'd say YES his 'louder and colourfully' way as you put it does help the players. Firstly he'll know if a player has any knocks or carrying injuries or not so would know if and when to slaughter him or not i.e Jordon Last week v Margate for example was being got at by a couple of disgruntled supporters but we later found out he was carrying an injury and was duly subbed after about 25 mins. Secondly, Jason has been massively involved and responsible for, 1/ getting us promoted to the RPL and 2/in keeping us their, something i'm certain will happen although not guaranteed as yet.

Andy-Your nit picking-I did'nt blame the pitch I said it was awful and playable albeit just, even their website warned that any sudden rain/snowfall would put the game in doubt.

The referee's performance did effect the game as our penalty shout (and as i've said it was a cast iron penalty and god knows what the referee and his assistants were watching) would have given us a golden opportunity of going 1 up and we know how we ended up when we'd taken the lead against this lot last time we were here we went on and won, their penalty claim came way after when they were already 1up.

Yes 2nd place Concord did show more spirit, attitude and commitment than we did and it was no surprise Steve gave his dressing down in the away dug out after the game, I think he'd agree with us, the performance was awful.

End of the day though, when we confirm our place in the RPL next season it will be our most successful season in history whether it's good on the eye or not. It's one step at a time unless you want us to end up like Truro City or Kettering just to name 2 teams spiralling their way down the leagues or indeed when Whitehawk do too one day.

OT-15th?? offer me third from bottom today and i'd take it as it'll be confirmation of Job Done, but I hope too we finish 15th but let's not be over realistic.

Steph-The second half 'handball' was less relevant than our claim as it could have given us the lead and inspiration to battle away more. So their we disagree, phew.

But this is why Football is so popular, we all have our own views, which mine is best of course (-:

Let's hope for a reaction v Kingstonian/Bury

Not nit picking in the least. I do not have a crystal ball so cannot say whether we would have scored from the penalty had we been given it. What I can say, in my opinion, is that the performance was not good enough and I don't think we would have done any better playing on a perfect pitch. Let's hope we get some decent performances in the run in as that's what will bring in the crowds.
