I would not have been disappointed had I not got this final as I have already officiated it previously.

I’m not sure that is true, I think you had your heart set on the Challenge Trophy Final, which is the jewel in the crown for a SSML Official isn’t it, and you would have been unhappy had you not been appointed

That's not always the case, Ben Furneaux, for example, has regularly been assessed and he's one of the best Officials I've seen

No need for it, although admittedly some people probably have an interest in what you have to say. The best thing a ref can do in a game is go unnoticed. And that should carry on away from the game too. The only time people should hear from you is after the game, discussing decisions, etc. You shouldn't be on a forum with general chit chat about the league, teams and games. It can lead to opinions being formed on clubs and managers which isn't healthy.
