LATEST NEWS........Wednesday 20th March 2013 - 1.58pm

Due to failed floodlights at Cobham FC, tonight's league game against Horley Town has been postponed.

Unfortunately, attempts to play the game at Wibbandune were thwarted as Horley could not notify all of their players in time.

New date to follow.

What a load of old tosh!

I'm intrigued to know why you think that, Chubby !

My guess is that Chubby is referring to whether players have mobile phones or not...?

If the floodlights worked last night how did they know they had failed today?

Only some of the lights at Cobham worked last night. The league allowed the game to go ahead with permission of both clubs and the match officials.

Cobham won 1-0.

When they were tested this morning at around 11am NONE came on!

We spoke to the league IMMEDIATELY and Horley re switching a one off game to Wibbandune which was agreed but The Horley manager could not contact all of his players before the 2pm curfew both clubs and the league had set to sort out food, programmes etc etc etc.

For the record ALL at CWUFC are gutted to have yet another game re-arranged.

So how have they have communicated to say game is off? Surely same method to say change of venue.

Just saying.

Less of a rush I guess to contact players when a game is off?

It would have taken me 2 and a half hours to print programmes and collect covers. Then get ready and get to ground.

Food has to be bought and prepared.

The 2pm cut of was fair to EVERYONE.

I was contacted by CWU about 11.30am but was in a meeting until 12pm and so Tony Hurrell left me a message. I spoke with Tony at 12pm and we agreed to switch the game based on me being able to get a response from at least 12 of my 15 man squad by 1.45 to allow time to make the decision.

I had only had replies from 8 by that time. Some cannot have phones switched on during work, 1 cannot get a signal at his work and i rang him at 16.10 because he hadn't responded. it his now 16.20 i have still to make contact with 3 of them, i have tried to ring them and goes to voicemail. I'm just hoping they have thier phones with them and check their messages before they travel.

There was no reason for us not to want to play. The last thing we want is to have to play 3 games in a week, which is probably what will happen now.

So no conspiracy theory guys, both clubs did their level best to get the game played at the alternative venue but time ran out.

Why did the deadline need to be set at 2pm?? Surely the match could have been played without programmes?! Not suggesting any conspiracy but just think more could have been done in order to get the game played.

It has been explained by Ali and myself why the curfew was required.

Don't think I'll bother on here anymore.

Too many nosey [****!!****]ers!
