Dom Heaume scored Guernsey's fifth.

By the way, Ross Allen scored his 100th goal for Guernsey this evening.

Epsom will win tonight the myth of Guernsey being world beaters is well and truly gone. Fancy Epsom to win quite comfortable.

This will be my 1st visit to Chipsteds ground so looking forward to it

Any pearls of wisdom the rest of the season bobuk ?

GG it was more tongue in cheek thought Guernsey were very good and Epsom were poor tonight.

I did notice a few Guernsey players pulling up with cramp.

Gonna be one hell of a run in, keep Allen fit and you have a great chance

Cheers bobuk. Here's hoping The Moors are also feeling the season's strain on Saturday.

How is it sour grapes if it was before the game?

Most satisfying night as a GFC fan in a while. Zimmerman outstanding at CB. Brilliant night

Hi

Sorry I just meant about Guernsey in general on here.

"myth of Guernsey being world beaters"

who ever said this, ?

Without doubt the best team won on the night. I felt that 5-2 was a little harsh though and probably 3-1 was a fairer reflection.

I was also frustrated with our formation last night. Don't get me wrong, I understand why it was done, as it worked well against Guernsey in the Cup, but we have three very good scorers who are fit right now (Marvell is almost fit again too) and two of them played some distance from the goal, which I felt didn't really play to our strengths. While three in midfield can work for us we were missing Carl Downs last night through suspension for his sending off at Raynes Park and that left us unable to do what we normally do so well. In my opinion, Carl is our best player and unlike other teams with bigger squads we can't just replace him. That was just unfortunate timing and you do have to wonder why a sending off in mid February should have an effect on a random game some four weeks later, but there you go.

So I would have liked to see some more company for Robbie up front as I feel the best way to beat Guernsey is to attack them and with our strikers as good as they are, it was frustrating to see Jarman in particular out on the wing and Kyle very deep in midfield, although he pushed forward more in the second half. If Jarman had been part of a 4-4-2 he would have been jumping with Zimmerman, not Robbie and it would have been a more even contest as Robbie could have fed off the knockdowns instead. As I say though, this is just personal preference and is not a criticism of our tactics, as I understand the reasoning.

I would however dispute the statement about some of them giving up. The first half was very even in fact we probably shaded possession. Also during the match our keeper made a couple of uncharacteristic errors which he has already held his hands up to on Twitter. One of those was crucial as we had just got back to 2-1 when a long shot went through him moments later to kill any momentum, but he didn't do it deliberately and I thought our lads tried hard throughout.

And before anyone says "well, you would say that, you're an Epsom supporter", just check back to my comments after the Hartley loss last week where I said we were flat. If our players were bad, I'll say so. Last night we weren't that bad and in fact the standard of the whole game was quite good and the ratio of goals scored to chances created was very high. Guernsey just played better than we did and that's what it's all about.

Although Cove could still stop them, I feel that neither ourselves nor South Park will now catch Guernsey at the end of the season for second after this week's results. Both they and Egham will go up with the points per game ratio for those clubs being very high in comparison to the neighbouring leagues, so if you haven't been to the island yet and still have a visit to come, I suggest you take the opportunity as it's clear now that they will be Step Four next season and you'll have missed it.

A quick word for their keeper Hamon, Your Ole Gunnar Solksjaer lookalike is a really nice bloke and had a good chat with us behind the goal during the game. He also drew the referee's attention to a head injury and by the time the ref noticed the incident, both trainers were already running onto the pitch. Typically from the ref (who sent one of our players off at Farnham earlier this season) he gave both physios a telling off, saying that he administered the game, not them. What a pompous idiot. I won't name and shame him here though!

Both Egham and Guernsey are the teams to beat this season. It will be interesting if they are both allowed to go up or if the FA only stick to one team.

Think you are confused frustin. if the ppg is good enough, a second placed or even third placed team WILL go up. The Ryman league need the extra teams!

Bom, I think third place only comes into contention if either of the top two cannot go up.
