Roger Sparkes
Staines rebel jr, didn't realise you were in Derby. I'm 10 miles further north so could give you a lift to Rugby. I've pm'd my mobile.

3spirit
we struggled terribly to get any control of possession to dictate the game and could argue Aylesbury were unlucky not to get a point at least we stuck the chances away when we got them and its a win although we simply must tighten up the goals we are conceding via such basic situations think we struggled with a lopsided formation and was a bit worried that although we had 3 center midfielders on we never really dominated midfield at all. the Aylesbury 8 ran the majority of the game Agree,Mr Rebel, about our midfield yesterday. I usually like to see, when we play three centre midfielders, someone who sits deep as a holding midfielder, especially if only playing two centre-halves.Not that Slough ever play that way under Steve Bateman. Dave Deeney seemed like he was going to play this role but somehow he managed to drift right out of the position on numerous occasions and appeared lost for much of the first half. Defensively thought Adam Martin and Ollie Burgess were ineffective and so we invited pressure to a fast-tempo Aylesbury side. I've noticed Slough often struggle with fast-tempo sides,as we like to play football at a more measured pace.Luckily,Aylesbury were poor defensively, too and as we have the better quality players, thought this was the difference between the teams and gave us the edge. Our attacking play is very good. My only criticism is we have too few a shots from outside the penalty area. I'm still worried that since NBH departure, our centre half combinations, look far from safe. When we had Alex Brown,NBH and Dave Woozley we looked formidable, and all of those players have presence. I thought Steve Perkins shouldn't have been dropped for yesterday's game but should have been between Kyle Anthony and Dave Woozley. If he hold's his position, his intelligence and football skills, could have prevented, the goal Kyle Anthony was at fault for yesterday. As Steve Perkins is only available for Saturday games, why we don't use his know-how,to better effect is beyond me. With Alex Brown and Simon Sweeney to come back in,we have options to make our defence,a solid unit than it's currently looking. We even have the chance to play five out and out defenders and still be an attacking force. Thus being able to soak up pressure and then counter-attack which would be good for some of our tougher away fixtures.
hotspur
I wasnt at the match as I am at university in Derby and being a student I can't afford the train prices to come and whatch the matches, I will be at the Rugby game though. Also everyone who knows me knows that I fully support the club win or lose. I started whatching Slough when the team were doing badly and got kicked out of wexham park, so I have been whatching slough during our bad times and stuck by the club. SO i was right yet again doh!
